advice for respeccing punisher

I have punisher at 5/5/3 and am thinking about doing a respec to 3/5/5. I have a single red cover right now. Do you think it's worth it to make him 4/5/4 while waiting for another red cover? I know it's worse than either 3/5/5 or 5/5/3. On one hand 5 red might be good because of the level shift change; on the other hand, I usually run punisher with lazycap during pvp so in general cap's red is better. Thoughts?

    Depends what you plan to use him for. If you want him for PvE, 5 red can be useful for the extra 10% to reach the instant kill for some of the uber-buffed opponents.

    If you plan to use him in PvP, I'd stay with 3 Red though. The computer isn't very good at using it effectively on defense, but the computer can't screw up using 5 Black.

    Just wanted to point out the AI is going to use retribution when it gets to 8 red usually anyway unless a cascade gets it to 11 for the shield toss.

    My punisher is 3/5/5 and I have no regrets or thoughts of switching, but if you are getting good use of his black and like it, I see no reason to switch. With the level bumps cap's shield is going to take out almost every character from 40% anyway so you'd only be saving yourself 3 red AP and be gimping your only black ability. Now you might not always use cap, so maybe you want to switch with future pairings in mind or as pwuz mentioned for pve when enemies can scale to have hp well over 10k.

    That's the weird thing, the computer seems kind of random sometimes in which moves it chooses to use, and which it doesn't. It tends to favor lower AP cost moves, but sometimes it will save for higher cost moves too!
  • I usually don't worry too much about the AI for defense, even if you go 5/5/3 they might use the red anyway. I like 3/5/5 since everyone has more hp now, it's a little more effective. Good for killing buffed characters in PVP and PVE alike.

    As far as 4/5/4 goes, obviously it's not ideal but it's not terrible as a a transition.
  • 4 Black - the added black reduces the countdown on the timer by 1 turn. You already have max damage at 4/5
    5 Green - 3 strike tiles
    4 Red - Full damage at 4/5. Downing characters at 30% vs 40% might make a difference with level shift.
