Traps removed by any tile placed over it?

I was messing around with Fury today in the simulator, the node with Mohawk Storm in it. I used the "Demolition" power, and shortly afterward the AI used "Hailstorm" covering nearly the entire board. Now I remember reading about how DD's red traps could be over written with Laken's/Daken's strike tiles, but I had no idea that attack tiles could as well. Has anyone else experienced this issue, and I assume this is working as intended? If it is, then what is the point of traps if they can just be overwritten by anything.

    This has always been the case.
    Any character placing any number of tiles will disarm it, be it Moonstones gravity, defense tiles, attack tiles, strike tiles, countdown tiles, any of cap america's abilities and apparently Hulks green anger tiles will overwrite them.

    However Thor's abilities, the ice mountain environment thing, sand desert and the forest environment abilities will 'cause the traps to change color rather than being disabled.

    Traps will be set off by either a match or through being struck from a match 4/5 line wipe.

  • It's quicker to make a list of abilities that will NOT destroy a trap, which is something that changes only the color of a tile, like Thunder Strike. Note that Oasis overwrites the special tile property (back to neutral) and will get rid of it even though it looks similar to Thunder Strike.
