Bummed about PvE
So D3P wants us to play more then they need to stop requiring covers in events that only 10 percent of players have. I didn't get daken because I had flu and missed a day... didn't get she hulk either so this event 3 out of 5 require daken so basically this people that have daken will win a Johnny storm which will be required in next event. If you want us to play and your going to keep having required covers then at least give us the guaranteed 10 pack back so if we don't win one we can at least buy one. But I am not paying for a possible.. This game isn't worth that.. so overall I am looking for other games to play now that I am stuck in a cycle that I don't have any of the required covers so I can't get any of th en new covers that will be required. So instead of spending hundreds of dollars on possibilities I made decision to cut losses and find another game.

While there's almost always a '10% gets a free ride' event immediately after a new character is released, Daken is hardly something only 10% of the population have by now. Sentry and HT will be the required character in round 2 and 3, and should give you room to make up the points provided you have them.0

At start of S2 there were two PVPs back to back offering LD, followed LD tournament where you could get the 1100 progression. And he's now in tokens too, so having 1 cover is hardly anything special.0

Which you could get if you had a strong 3* roster. For anyone else, 1100 is impossible, and those PVP's were limited to top 50 at the time.
I wasn't in an alliance when Daken came out, and top 50'd in PVP twice (obviously not in Daken tourneys, which had higher numbers competing). He wasn't in packs until two weeks ago, I luckily pulled one the first day -- but I get two or three 3*'s out of covers a week, if I'm lucky.
I totally understand not having Daken still, and it is a bummer. You can still play without the essentials, but you can't really compete. The True Healing change hosed me in Shulk intro tourney, and I couldn't compete in last heroic without her. Of course, the PVP that gave that cover out ended AFTER the essential nodes that needed her finished.
It's how it will probably always be, the "heavies" will compete for the new prize, then they'll be the only ones with that prize to compete in the next tournament that requires her. In the meantime, the devs think it is working fine: everyone else has to buy 10-packs in hopes that they get the required character.
When I was just starting to get my 3* roster going this didn't bother me, I figured I'd get there. It seems a little rough now, as if the covers are being given only to those who can immediately hit the newest event (ignoring the terrible constantly changing rubber-band effect here...), and it seems especially wrong that those covers aren't in token rotation for a long time.0 -
Missing out on a character can seriously hamper you for the next couple of events, until you get a lucky draw of a featured character and get back on the rewards train. It happened to me with the original TaT run, and took until I managed to draw a BP from repeated token draws to get back in.0

Them's the breaks.
That system, to me, is just an incentive to play, and have a full roster. Essentially, it's a reward for doing the things that are central to the game anyway.
An example. I happened to miss out on Sentry, so I did worse in a few events that required him, then missed out on Mohawk for that reason. But after a couple weeks, picked up Mohawk in a later event, and then got all three Sentry covers in the last PvE, (plus another green in the current Simulator), now I've got everyone again and I don't have to worry. Yes, missing a hero is a setback, so you recover and fight a bit to get back to the top. I personally think it's more of a bummer that I'm penalized for being in a currently 7-man alliance with my actual friends (many of whom I got to play the game in the first place), instead of joining a top 100 with 20 random players. But I deal with it, because them's the breaks. Maybe I'll pop a Nick Fury when he's in the token pool. Maybe they'll make him the 275 daily reward. Maybe not. That's just how it goes.0 -

I disagree. There should be an easy way to get yourself at least one cover. People need to take a break sometime. I missed the final four hours of the She Hulk event because of a family function. I went from #4 ranked to #164 in those four hours. It wasted 6 days of playing PVE and ruined the next event because I couldn't play half of the nodes. Having few covers than people that finished well in the previous event should be enough punishment for time off. You would think it would be a no brainer for D3 because people would be dropping a ton of HP to make room for the new covers.0 -

Now and then you get a "catch-up" tournament.
The one that introduced She-Hulk had IM-40 as the required character, so that put most people on an even footing. As long as they keep doing that every so often I think it works out well enough.
But it would be nice if requiring Captain America, for example, meant any Captain America, since they're the same damn character. If Demuirge can be lazy about making characters, we should be allowed to be lazy about collecting them.0
