Are the Critical tiles bugged?

Lately, I have noticed several times that critical tiles are not always matched when they are created, even though there are 2+ tiles of the same color right next to them. I'd say 20-25% of the time the tile won't create a match, but instead will drop to the bottom of the column (or as low as it can go if the 5-match didn't clear the entire column). Has anyone else noticed that? Is it a known bug, or am I missing something?

    Tiles should always fall before they notice whether they're part of a match or not. Is that consistent with what you're seeing?

    If there's an OBW, on your team for sure-maybe on the other team as well, they'll match in midair. Speculation that it had something to do with the espionage check

    With OBW they check for a match in mid-air, all others they fall before checking for a match. When crits are part of a cascade and the pairing is with environmental tiles it doesnt result in the crit boost to the AP gained.

    I noticed this in the last pve. I was using OBW which, as others mentioned already, may be why sometimes critical tiles matched mid-air. I was using OBW quite a lot before I got my C.Mags to a decent level so this may be the reason I though mid air matching was normal. I have the impression mid-air matches with critical tiles happened with other heroes too, but I don't remember specific incidents.

    As others have said, it varies greatly depending on team composition. This is especially frustrating with GSBW and careful placement of green tiles for optimal cascading.

    I noticed this in the last PvE as well. I don't ever run OBW normally so when I was forced to use her and it happened I was pretty damn confused haha

    *edit: Personally, I like the OBW match as, when I used her, it introduced a neat little piece of strategy trying to set up crits to result in mid-air matching.

    If a crit tile makes more than one match simultaneously, only the first match gets the crit damage, so if the environment match was not the first match it'd only get the base value that's also decreased by the cascade penalty. I know there are a lot of time it seems like the crit on environment just doesn't work but usually too many thing is blowing up at once for me to be sure that it wasn't a double or more match.

    It is based on who owns the tile, and also in the positioning of your team on the roster screen. It is far more likely that ties occur with environment tiles as there is a static number, not a scaled number. If you place the highest environment character in the middle position, it will match crits to environments more often, so long as the other matches present are not that characters strongest colors.

    This happens so often that I just assumed it was working as designed. Agree that it makes a lot more sense for the critical tile to fall to the bottom before matching.

    What he said, this happens all the time and I thought it was on purpose. I don't think it's just OBW either, I don't use her much anymore.
  • Crit tiles matching before falls always happens for me when I have a hero that has a power that activates after a color match.

    So it always happens when I have a OBW or 2* Wolvie on my team.

    Now that this is bumped, I just remembered that I had it happened a few times when there was no OBW on either side too. IIRC, I had it happen a few times this week in the simulator, when I was running Laken/HT/Falcon

    Bullseye (Adamantium Bones)
    Spider-Man (Spider-Sense)
