The winner(s)/loser(s) of healing change

The landmark healing change has been in affect now for a while now. I've noticed several changes throughout the game (LR, PVP, and PVE).

The biggest winners appear to be aoe characters in particular C Storm (who seems to have replaced OBW in frequency). She has to AOE attacks, blue and yellow. AOE characters almost guarantee you'll take damage in those battles. I'm not sure if this makes her best build 3/5/5 (I'm leaving mine 5/5/3), but there's a lot stronger argument now for this build.

I also notice the number of retaliations are down (or at least not as quick to respond). I'm not sure if this is a coincidence with the Heroic PVE eating up health packs, or just players actually having time away from the game with the limited number of health packs.

Of course there's tanks and Patch/Daken's everywhere, but they were there before. Although it does seem some players, play with their normal teams until they get low on on health packs, put in their Patch/Daken teams, and then switch back to their defensive team when they're done. So can't really call them winners, they're the same status as before.

Ironically, I think Spiderman is another big winner. With the premium for limiting damage, he has shield tiles, temp healing (temp health goes before true health), and a limited stun that can hold off a powered up attack a turn or two, which usually enough to beat that character or line up tiles for your meat shield (preferably loaner) to take the big hit. As always, he covers blue/purple/yellow. He's not what he was before, but he has a new use that is more geared to the new healing system.

Losers, I'd like to say OBW because I'm finally seeing her less. She's still very useful with strike tiles and stealing AP, but she's squishy. Therefore, players have to use all their health packs on her, or switch her out for other characters (I'm guessing C Storm for when ready to set their defensive teams).

I wish I could say Sentry was a loser (I actually think he was the real reason for the healing nerf to come out of the blue). However, he's still seems to be who everyone uses for their shield hop (rich HP tink kitties to afford lots of shields and buy Sentry covers) and sets for their defensive teams.

  • Another loser is the City.

Poor, poor City. He was already picked on and made fun of by all the other environment tiles. Even that loser Latveria would kick sand in his face. Now even those who created him - his own parents for chrissakes - have joined in and crapped all over him.

Please, D3, please think of the City. End this travesty before we have to get this guy involved.

Hulk is a big winner. Seeing a lot more of him out there.

"Ironically, I think Spiderman is another big winner."

Uh... no. The double nerf to Spidey in no way makes him a winner.
  • Damage soaks like Hulk are big winners. I used to play thor/OBW in pvp tournaments. I would just stack blues and make sure I was full health by the time I ended the match.

Now, with the knowledge that I will definitely take at least some damage and, if OBW isn't on my team, probably a quarter to half health per fight, I'm running tankier comps.

Using Hulk, Lazy Thor, Sentry and She-Hulk (though not many have her right now) means that unless the match goes really bad, you won't have to use a health pack on them for 2 or maybe 3 matches. If you run OBW with them, you could avoid health packing them entirely and saving all your health packs for OBW.

The biggest losers, in my opinion, are The Hood, Mohawk Storm and Loki (the pain just keeps coming for Loki) because they are the squishiest 3* champs. They will likely need a health pack before every match unless they are shielded by another character with high offense in all their tile colors.

Other big losers are Bullseye, C-Storm and 2* Wolverine. C-Storm and Bullseye are extraordinarily squishy and will require constant healing. Wolverine is a tweener between squishy and tanky, but he still is thrust to the front line a lot due to his high damage. He has his yellow heals, but unless you have someone like Thor on your team who utilizes yellows, it feels really bad to take yellows in lieu of useful AP. Daken and Patch get healed automatically each turn. 2* Wolvie should probably have his yellow changed to not require tile matching to proc it.

I thikn Dare devil is the big winner. Now with True healing a large roster is needed to compete and he is a great 3* character....

wait what am I saying he is still terrible. icon_lol.gif
  • There's no need to bring Spidey for defense if you have Lazy Cap or C.mags. Both can shield you and still throw big offensive bombs.

Anyone that runs with Spiderman is an instant attack from me.

Okay . . . seriously . . .it's just wrong that hotdogs heal you - even if it is only for 50 health.
