Now that Spiderman has his new epic buff, I'm having difficulties deciding who my main 3 should be. I plan on maxing them out, but I know it requires SO MUCH ISO. Here's my team thus far:

115 Ragnarok 5/5
112 Magneto 5/1/5
85 Thor 4/4/5
85 C. Storm 4/4/5
83 Spiderman 2/5/3
80 Doom 5/5
50 IM 40 3/3/3
41 Widow (Grey) 5/1/3

These are the ones I'm focused on. Should I invest in one or wait till a new character?

  • try rag magneto and spider and tell me how it goes, that's one of my end game plans haha
  • I'm nowhere near that level, but I would go Grey Suit, Rag, Mag. You don't have a rainbow of abilities, but you have a rainbow of strikes. Rag feeds Grey Suit. Grey suit has a powerful punch. Mag protects and delivers a powerful punch. Yellow and Black will be useless, but you'll be swimming in so much green, I don't think you'll notice. Then sub in Spiderman when you need to heal.
  • It is expensive, so just go with whomever you like.

I'd say the strongest characters are Rags, Mags, Spidey, but that doesn't mean it's the best team. I think Rags+Widow is a cool combo. Spidey+Mags another cool combo. 3rd slots are open for guests.
  • Although I'm a fan of the Magneto character and also think the card is interesting, I'm not convinced he'll have perfect synergy with Ragnarok.

Yes, you would not bother using red for Magnus in favor of saving it all up for our good buddy Rag. That's not necessarily synergy, that just means Magnus effectively only has 2 abilities.

Also, as a Rag player, your job is to remove as many red tiles as possible from the board by matching them or "shattering" them with abilities that generate AP. If you can successfully do this, that means you:
1.) Can use Rag's jawsome red ability
2.) Denied the opponent red AP from using *their* Rag/Thor/whoever

As a Classic Magneto player, you need to have a bunch of red & blue on the board for his purple to really hurt. The problem is that you will routinely be removing all the blue from the board with Magnus' blue ability, and if you're also pulling all the red off the board for Rag with matches, how do you do any damage at all with Magneto's purple? You'll need to get some lucky pulls on Rag's green or another board-clearer (Grey Widow, etc.), and if you go with another character for board-clear, that's it...your team's 3 slots are full.
  • Thanks everyone. Oddly enough Grey widow has strong yellow and black so I could cover the rainbow, but Spiderman is so good now.
  • It's worth mentioning that the only character with a good green that plays nice with Ragnarok on defense is Wolverine.

This is why I'm a bit perplexed when people say Rag/**Wolverine is such a powerful combo. If you're doing it right, there really should be very few red strike tiles on the board, and also probably not much red AP stored to increase the number of strike tiles he generates. I guess every little bit of extra damage helps, but if you're using **Wolverine green and have already cleared most of the red, now you're back at square one and need to find more red to feed Rag. There's obviously something I'm missing; my Wolverine is stuck at LVL 30 needing more covers.

I can take a full load of boosts and kill an entire team of boosted villains on turn 3 (roughly 40% of the time) with rag/wolverine. I try to take 1 red clear and either another red or green clear and then use green until I'm out of ap or until all the reds are strike tiles. Then I use red until I have to convert more reds. Alternate until I win. Turn 3. I will usually also manually clear any 5s should they crop up. I'll also start burning off green ap if I start getting too close to 30.

If you do it this way, you generally clear more reds as you go from the 4s and 5s that inevitably form.
  • Spiderman is good, but battles take so long with him. I think that's why I missed out on Grey Suit's green cover this morning. I find that by the time I have a bunch of webs for good protect tiles, I am already stunning them for the rest of the battle. Not that it isn't an awesome improvement. I may just need to level them up to 5.

As for Rag, I think he feeds Grey Suit and C Storm the best. I also don't get Wolferine because of the limited red on board. It seems counterproductive. I can win on turn 1 half the time if I boost with Rag and C. Storm. Rag feeds Storm and Storm feeds Rag. Eventually I have enough to use storm's blue or the abilities of the third character. It depends on the board of course, but once your green AP starts hitting 30, chances are your turn won't end. Obviously, this doesn't work quite so well on defense.

The number of people yielding to me suggests mine works quite well on defense.
  • You're already an expert if you have those characters

    secret brag topic!

Really? It takes 2 ragnarok swats to drop Wolvie.

To the point, I love rags, spidey, and mags. One of my most used trios. I never leveled my grey suit so I can't speak to it. All I know is I've never been hit by one's sniper rifle when I'm on offense. Spidey, however, can ruin your day if he does get a blue cascade on you. Same with mags matching purples.

I realllly want to level a 4* Wolvie just to say I did it, and use him in there. Even if I know he sucks

Are people finding spidey's new ability an actual difference maker in games?

It might just be because I've been playing lightning rounds and with the crazy amount of damage being dealt out and killing opponents so quickly, I just haven't really noticed. (Not many of the top players use spidey in lightning, anyway.)

But, I'm finding it hard to justify using spidey for crunch time of tournaments (the last 20 minutes or when I'm trying for a high progression reward) and I really only use him when I'm taking a slow/keep healthy approach. Is the new ability swaying people to use spidey more? Are people more reluctant to attack a spidey with the new passive?
  • Rag changes all to green (except yellow) so mag purple will not be effective. I can't wait untill my GS widow will be 100+ . killing will be easy with her and rags - plus spidey for stunning in critical situations. Also purple will be good for creating protect tiles and feeding widow. basically in this setup you will be almost gathering green. Match red - create five green with rag, match purple - feed widow and create green. With +6 red ap boosts widow may shot sniper rifle in first move after lucky thunder clap. And almost whole rainbow except black
It would be super fast and super fun

I run 115 Rag/120 Widow/128 IM40 in Double Shot and I find it to be awesome. I target an opponent or two with thunderclaps (to get them to around 3000 health), then I'll have more than enough for sniper rifle to generally kill off everybody except buffed IM40s. IM40 alone is generally fairly harmless, so I generally pop a recharge and kill him off with either/both of my IM40's abilities.

I think it is just addon. I don't really create web tiles and then match purple. I match purple just when I don't have red or blue to match. So I think all builds with 5 blue skill for spidey are fine.
  • Only problem with widow is that at max level she will be taking damage when we match purple , blue and black. But spidey will heal her at the end of match so problem solved
  • I would say Rag / Widow / Spidy. Im using this combo and normally it's a first turn kill when opponents dont even get a turn on the offensive side. Spidy can be used to deter or annoy attackers.

I think it would make him stronger on overnight defense, since the AI tends to match purple for no apparent reason. Now it has a reason.
