PvP points change [update: not really]

In the past, the number of points shown for entering a match was often different from the points you actually got after winning it. This was because the number was just an estimate based on the opponent's score at the time they were picked up into your queue. When you won, your points awarded was based on what their current score actually was. This led to some adopting the strategy of queuing up retaliations early and sitting on them, waiting until the end to use them when the opponents had higher scores.

Recently I noticed that I am receiving exactly the number of points that was estimated. It seems like it now doesn't care if the opponent's current score has changed. Can anyone confirm? Or have all my opponents' scores really not moved at all?

If this is true then that simplifies things. One less meta game element to worry about. It was how I originally thought it worked when I first started the game. On the other hand, it seems like another client side exploit waiting to happen.

This morning, I had a match where the post-match screen that adds the points to your score one at a time went up to the amount that it told me before the match, but right when it finished going up, it went down a point. So I think they adjusted it to add adjustment right on the rewards screen. Someone else can watch for this to confirm.
  • I'm still seeing the same issue 'off by a couple' when close to progression thresholds. It seems like they updated the frequency you and your opponent rating is refreshed so the information is likely more accurate compared to the past.

I usually click fast through the points screen, but I have noticed it seems better about being more up-to-date with scores. That said, I definitely hit a guy this morning and it showed him on 0 points, even though it's like 2 days in, so I figured no way. Win screen shows me get 21 points, but in reality I got like 50. Also, just an hour or two ago I had a guy queued up showing maybe 900 or so, but I checked his alliance and he was at 1136, and it never updated it. So, I think it's getting better, but this thing still happens, so you should still check people's score if you can and think they might have significantly more points.

Ok I think I know what happened now. Usually I watch the post-battle score window and take note of the score, and then compare it with what was shown in the top left corner of the event screen. The post-battle window score was based on the estimated points, and the event screen was the more accurate update. If the event screen's score was different from what the post-battle window said, then I knew my opponent had gained or lost points in the interim.

But now it seems that even the event screen's score is not up to date when you finish a battle. It only refreshes periodically or when you check the leader board rankings. So I had won several matches in a row without my event score properly refreshing. It was showing only my score based on the accumulated estimated points.
