Best defensive option next to Daken/Patch?

Also, in a pvp, does seeing Patch/Hulk concern you enough to warrant a skip?

  • The issue is that if you are running Patch/Dakan/Hulk (and you're worth 40+ points), I'm just going to bring my Cmags and beat you that way.

But if you were only worth 25-30 points, I would skip it.
  • How is Daken/Patch a good defensive option? All you have to do is deny green and blue. You'll have some strike tiles to worry about, but you don't have to worry about any other ability attacks. Denying blue will also usually take care of Daken's healing.

Daken/Patch is not that bad against slow teams that have to ramp up before doing damage; and Daken weakens any squishy characters on offense. I lost to Hulk/Daken today, but it was entirely my own fault, too. And no, one doesn't need Magneto to beat Daken although Magneto is certainly the best at it at the moment.

It may not be but my roster dictates my options. I may have the iso to level up one of these guys (besides BP who is already max'd) and i am considering my options. I do well enough on offense so I need a defensive specialist.
  • I had thought of an ultra-annoying team: Modern Hawkeye, Classic Storm, Hulk.Have Hulk and MHawkeye high enough so that those two tank every color, and arranged so that if Hawkeye avoids Hulk steps up. All you'd see would be Anger and Raging Tempest, and have Hulk's bottomless pile of hitpoints soaking up literally all of the damage.

The problem with that one is that simple match damage won't be enough to trigger Tempest/Anger (on high-leveled Hulk/Cstorm)

It would be interesting to see how maxed-covered (but low-leveled) Hulk/Cstorm would behave.
  • I'm running GSBW, Hulk, and Patch right now for two reasons.

    1. My Hulk tanks for red and green and has 5 black covers, meaning he is a green generator.

    2. Hulk and anger means widespread damage if he gets hit and not killed / stunned, which makes him a bad option to attack if you aren't sure you can get the killshot in.

I'm finding that I'm getting a good amount of points from retaliations due to #2, as people try and fail to beat me and give me abotu 24 points a shot.

I still lose on occasion but my net is fairly positive as opposed to the -100 or -200 I'm used to getting if I don't shield overnight.

If you're playing someone running Patch and CMags, however, Berserker Rage throws enough strike tiles out there to activate it.

If you're running that combo, the AI never even gets another turn after you use your Berserker Rage. Cmags red/blue (and purple) kills everyone off or wipes out all the purple strike tiles.

No matter what defensive team I used, with maxed chars (sentry/lthor/hulk/daken...), as previously said, if you're worth points, guys will use boosts and hit you.

So I gave up and shielded, as I had lost more than 300 points.
