Overused characters

  • c mags Nerf is easy, I hope they don't overthink it. they just need to line his AP with mmn. just need to switch his purple and blue. so purple making blue is no longer spammable. translocation is more in line with mmn blue ability as well.

they will probably alter the red based on other nerfA.D. they will increase the red ap cost, hopefully to just 5 or.6. as a trade off they should make it more powerful like mmn red but without a CD.

    it is that easy.

i'm glad you're not in charge of his re-alignment, cause that sounds absolutely terrible.

patchneto is pretty widely used in high mmr, it's a speed team, though awful on defense.
  • These are the characters I see in my queue, roughly in order:
    1. Punisher
    2. Hulk
    3. Thor
    4. Patch
    5. Mags
    6. Daken
    7. Spidey
    8. Hood
    9. BP

Ragnarok + cStorm. ... In many tournaments, 90% of teams were these two.

I'm sure it was nothing near the case. Maybe you meant 90% of game offers in certain MMR niche? Or tournament top10?

The tournament that released Invisible Woman, which I placed #1 in, was a slog of Ragnarok + cStorm teams. I got so good at destroying them that I eventually started skipping the rare team that was anything else. I should maybe say "some" tournaments, but they used to be overwhelmingly common before Storm was nerfed.

He speaks the truth. The whole MPQ community was on the Rag.
I thought IW release was a pve event, not pvp?
  • Part of overuse comes down to availability (e.g. Punisher is good but not overpowered, but his covers were so available that he was a lot of people's first 141 3* - including mine). Hulk similar.

I don't think there's any doubt that the Sentry-TurDaken combo is overpowered despite not being in wide use, and that they should make the widely suggested "fix" such as having the tiles go off simultaneously instead of letting them go off one at a time for maximum strike damage effect and cascading possibilities, even though it is not overused yet because most people don't have those characters maxed yet.

I really hope that the eventual C.Mags nerf comes with some buffs to underused 2* and 3* characters so there's a bit more variety at both tiers of play.

Funny thing about laken/sentry. This change makes it 100% more P2W! Before you could easily shield hop (using boosts to minimize the other incidental damage in the 2-3 turms before his powers went off) and then prologue heal up, getting a good 2-3 fights in before he needed to heal. Which is really about all you were safe to shield hop with anyway
  • I see Patchneto all the time.
  • They made Lazy Thor with the same moves as the 2* and now they are going to consider nerfing him? What did they expect making a good 2* into an epic 3*? Of course he is going to be powerful, but what's the point in making him the exact same (which is your own decision) just to take it away. If you thought this was going to be an issue, then you should have considered changing his powers before you released him.
Unfortunately the devs don't look that far down the road. Their vision seems to be clouded by greed

OBW is STILL the best 2* char by far. Why on earth does she need a buff?

Her healing is much less effective, so it should be made cheaper. I'm already seeing less of her on 3* teams.
Eh, even without the healing, 9 to basically stop all countdowns is probably fair
And even with healing made temporary, it gives the skill excellent dual use. The healing change basically takes her from required 2* character to top-tier 2* with little to no competition for her colors. MN Magneto and M Hawkeye have two out of three of those uncommon colors (no black on either), but are just nowhere near as foolproof or versatile, especially on defense.

Seems like there is some consensus.

Is there any team that people see overwhelmingly often? That if you look at PvP in Season 3, 3 out of 5 teams will be the same?

If Punisher or Hulk or Thor is always on 2 of the 5 teams I'm offered, that's not too bad.

I finally fought a Mohawk team, Daken Storm Falcon, and I WENT BLIND! There wasn't a single unmarked tile left on the board. I hope that one doesn't become popular. Hit me with a hammer.

Most forumites seem to agree that Magneto is overpowered and deserves a small nerf, but also seem to agree that he isn't being heavily overused.
He's not heavily overused in PVP. In PVE on the other hand, he and Good Ol' Tuxedo Man are by far and away the most used characters in the advanced 3* crowd.

This came out of the Level Shift discussion. Kinda good news / badnews here -- since he's not overused in PvP, and since he can be banned from PvE, there isn't much of a crisis. He hasn't been on a restricted PvE roster in a long time.

In the next major PvE event where he is allowed, they could put the "new" Magneto on trial. If you use Mags in the event, he'll have the new specs. In PvP he'd still have the current specs. After the event is over, people can hash out how they liked/hated the proposed Magneto. He wouldn't need to change until the next major PvE event after that one.
