Any SwiftKey workarounds?

Does anyone know how to work around SwiftKey and alliance chat on Android? When typing, letters replace each other, rendering it impossible to type unless you click the predictive word for each letter, m a k i n g i t l o o k l i k e t h i s .

By workarounds I mean, can you assign the game to a different keyboard? Or do I need to uninstall my prized texting app? Also, how in the heck did D3 mess this one up!? icon_rolleyes.gif

  • Pretty sure there is no way to assign different keyboards to different apps. It may be possible with something like Tasker or IFTTT(If This Then That) but I haven't tried but both apps are capable of automating things based of different actions. What I do is use the Google Keyboard which is a free download and works pretty well. It has flow/swype capabilities that actually work in the in game chat.
  • I love swiftkey and it sucks that I can't use it with mpq. Too bad they can't find the time to fix this problem.

Thank god they managed to find time to implement True Healing, though!
  • DLaw my thoughts exactly. Kept thinking of all the other broken things, promised buffs and nerfs we're still all waiting on, etc. Hell has the Ares fix even been pushed out yet when it was code complete and QA'd and simply missed being packaged in an update? Should have been a quick hotfix sent out immediately when it was discovered missing.

Anyways ... OP you can switch to a keyboard named 'Swype' and it will work "OK" in the Alliance chat. I actually like the keyboard and used to alternate between it and Swiftkey. Unfortunately it also has a glitch in that you have to manually push 'space' between words or end up with a period between each one.

Hmmmm also strange that there are longstanding issues with using two of the most popular keyboard apps with Alliance chat that also haven't been fixed. But it seems we've come to the point where there will be no more changes unless there is a predicted resulting uptick in arpdau.
  • The easiest thing to do is hot swap keyboards when typing in Alliance chat. If you click on the text box then pull down your notification bar you can click the keyboard icon and hot swap to any other keyboard you have on your device.

While it is far from ideal it allows you to quickly switch from the vastly superior Swiftkey to an inferior keyboard for the alliance chat, then back again for everything else.

Exactly what I'm looking for Brother Cain!
