D3 did the impossible (a rant from a Euro player)

  • That's terrible, so it's time for me to make a suggestion.

THE END TIMES ... when an event starts, one of 3 endtimes can be chosen, at 0, +8, +16 hours. If you choose one of the latter, the start will be delayed. Each person can only see and play in one of the three events. They are run as three different events so far as rubberbanding and similar things go. Personal scores and awards arrive as each event ends. Alliance rewards are tallied at the end of the last event.
This change alone would keep me from leaving the game, but every time it's suggested some of the "veterans" complain that they'd be "forced" to play on euro time to get easier brackets icon_rolleyes.gif

I put this into suggestions Top Ten Tourney:

I'd like to see a 3 day or so PvE tournament where in the LAST DAY, ten prizes are given out EVERY HOUR. Brackets of 2000.

    1 below +
    2-3 three covers
    3-5 two covers
    6-10 single cover

Once you've won a top 10 placement, you're out of the contest, and that's your final score.

Where in Britain is the TC if his event ends at 6am?
Mine always end at 5am or 5pm.

i must confess i change my sleep patterns to accomodate end time of events.. french timezone here means i have to wake up at 4.30 am if i want to be sure to have enough time to blitz the nodes and entrer top ten..off to bed around 10-10.30 pm.. i know its weird but thats the only tool i ve found to perform well in pve and pvp.. i dont deny it got some impact on workday but hey... no one forced me to do so..

I'm not in Britain. I'm in mainland Europe.

This time I went from #4 in my bracket to #160 in the last 7 hours. Same thing happened last time. By design something is broken if you can drop 150+ ranks in the last few hours if you have been constantly top 10.

I decided not to care, and refuse to get up. That is all I can do.

I'm not sure if it is broken. It might just mean that the entire top 150-200 are extremely close (in relative terms) in points throughout the entire event. To me, it would be broken to be able to get into the top 10 with 7 hours to go, and somehow be able to hold onto that ranking without playing at all the last 7 hours.

Edit: I have said in the past that if you're able to finish top 10 in all SUB-events, then you should not be able to drop out of the top 50 overall with 2 hours left, which is what happened to me in TaT, and I felt robbed.
  • My idea was that during 6 last hours nodes stop refresh and rubberbanding 'locks' to current scoring. Don't need to play with diffrent zones, you have 6h to make your last full clear and making it early won't give rubber to people clearing it later.
  • The best would be three different servers for Asia, Europe and US

What about, the events\pvp ending always in same time? 6PM(eu) is fine time for all. It's 10-11 am for USA, 11-12PM for ASIA.

    Based on this - http://24timezones.com/ icon_rolleyes.gif
  • I ask because I don't understand. Here in the Central Time zone my matches end at 1 of 2 different times, 11am or 11pm (12pm and 12am EST, respectively). Does that not happen in Europe? Do all pvp's end at 5am? Otherwise I would imagine with the times being what they are, your pvp's would end at either 5am or 5pm...which seems to be reasonable to me.

How is two of every three PVPs every week and EVERY PVE ever (unless a rerun of a heroic) ending at 6am 'reasonable'?
Try getting up at 5am twice or three times a week to match gems and see how you like it.
  • It ends at 5am here, which means waking at 4am, and trying to not make mistakes while being sleepy. It's not only unresonable, it's simply stupid. Most MMOs don't require you to be avaible at such hour. I'm not destroying my biological clock for 3-match game.
  • Yeah, I don't see how anyone can consider an end time of 5am or 6am "reasonable". I don't mind for PVPs, because 8 hour shields exist, but there is no such luxury for PVE.
  • It'd stil have been pretty bad without the 2h 24m refresh schedule if you can't play in the last 2 hours or so, but yes the existence of such aggressive playing schedule makes things even worse than before.

I'm not sure what they did exactly on Prodigal Sun, but that seems to be best implementation of a system with rubberbanding that doesn't overly punish timezone difference. I think it's because they had a mix of missions that rubberband that those that do not so that you still have some chance of catching up, but if you're already doing well and have time constraints, you don't fall behind that much since your major competitors are also working with missions at their base value so it's safe to do your own base value missions early. I hope they get rid of the 2h 24m refresh schedule, because it really doesn't do anything that can't be addressed by coming up with rubberband/base points that actually make sense. Thick as Thieves actually had a pretty good system too in the subs, until the main nodes completely invalidated every thing you did prior to the main nodes unlocking.

I'm with Vetheran. I tried, I went to bed around 11:30pm with a decent place, and woke up without a she-hulk cover or the option to be competitive in the next PvE without spending money on covers which don't include a guaranteed cover (ergo any amount of packs will not be bought).

Also 5pm finish times suck for me in the UK as I work until 5pm.

So, I just don't care and play as and when I want without stressing any more. Nothing I can do (without waking in the middle of the morning). Ho hum.

How can anyone seriously think 5am finishes for 3 PvP's per week is reasonable?

Due to all these recent changes I as a UK resident feel as though I habe no choice but to delete this game from my phone. it is now very unfriendly to those who are in the EU and work full time. I had no choice but to play 3 or 4 hours straight in the evening, no I cant even do that.

I am a free player so D3 is happy I shall no longer be consuming their bandwith.

I used to get by with just playing until 2am and then shielding, which would usually get me a decent finishing position and the rewards I was after - but it's not ideal, as although you can't lose points, other people can still leapfrog you in the rankings in the three hours remaining. And of course it doesn't help for PVEs at all.
  • I'm in the timezone where the events end at 6am-6pm which was fine by me, but the last couple of pvps as well as most of the subs in last pve ended only in the morning, which gets really annoying after a while. What happened to the cycle of 1 event ending in the morning and the next in the afternoon?

    It never existed?
We get PVPs ending on Monday 6am, Wednesday 6pm, Saturday 6am, every week. Been like this for months.
Then we get a few subs of PVEs ending during the day, but the final day of a PVE, the one you absolutely HAVE to be able to play the last hour to place well, always is at 6am.
I remember two Heroics being run back to back with shifted end times, but those are extremely rare.

Went to bed at midnight, with about 500 points up on 2nd place.

Woke up at 5 at 38th with about 4K behind first. Grinded until my Health Packs were out and scraped out an 8th place finish. Could have done more, but I wasn't going to buy HP.

It's possible as a European, but not with only half an hour in the morning, you need to give yourself an hour at least.
Half an hour works for subs, not for Heroics.

    Yesterday:

    I slept till 9AM.

It's good to catch some sleep.
