Technically, the MPQ account is bound to the local savedata. Not the Steam account ID, iirc.
So you could just hand off the savedata to someone else.

Probably violates a few EULA clauses though, so best not to venture there.

Typical spammers, trying to sell us one simple trick they don't want you to know about how to fit your kitchens

My opposing view of the day. Mod accounts should not trash talk on forums. Create a separate account for this or for modding. icon_e_wink.gif
  • so how many moderators are left on the forum?
  • I offered my help to clean the spam only. That would have helped the mod to do their job and give them some more productive time.

    Nonce Equitar 2

don't know about Puritas. and Pandaberry just disappeared.

Funny, cos on friday IceIX PMed me saying that he will reply to some people who offered their help. Just another meaningless statement.

I'm around, though I quit the actual game 3+ months ago
I even delete spam sporadically when I see nonce suffering too much from the strain, but I refuse to make it a slave labor job when d3p won't lift the three fingers they need to to stop it permanently

I really think D3P / Demiurge should pay the mods for the work and time they have put in. Even minimum wage. At least then we can say all that health pack purchase has a demonstrable positive impact to the community.

I think payment is a bit much, but showing appreciation to your mods and rewarding the work they put in with trust is.

I used to be a mod (and technically still am, I guess) for a video game forum as well. We'd get free DLC and other goodies from time to time. That was pretty cool.

But to be honest, what made me and the rest invest a lot of time in moderation wasn't the free stuff, but the ampunt of appreciation and trust we got from the devs at that studio, who were genuinely good people. Big announcements would be prescreened to us ahead of time so we could prepare and answer users' questions if the devs were unable to (or to prepare the virtual riot gear if necessary, for those few announcements that would not go over well). We had a separate mod/dev-only forum section where we could have candid talks about the game and general situation of the company and community with the devs (we were all under NDA, just in case, but none of us would've blabbed anyway). We all had the ability to distribute bans because we were trusted not to abuse that power (except for a notable april fools' joke where we 'banned' the devs and took over the forum, all with their knowledge and cooperation, of course). Of all the free stuff I've gotten, the thing most precious to me is a storage bag with a heart-felt thank you note written on it, signed by every single dev at the studio, including the higher-ups. I've met several of them in person, and still consider one of them a personal friend to this day, even if we've lost touch a little (but that's mostly my fault, had a turbulent year).

That level of trust, appreciation and communication is what can truly inspire a volunteer mod to go above and beyond for you, and can make a community manager's job so much easier. But it takes a high level of communication and goodwill on the developers' behalf. And we'll just have to see if D3 is willing/able to invest that into their mods and community.

Not much sign of that here. The powers refuse even to apply the most basic measures that would stop adding spam threads at faster pace they can be deleted. Puritas just dropped a note that I interpret as being mod here is like applying for slave labor with deliberate hurdles and that's it.

My favorite subject is 'pillars of lean'. Here both are completely missing, NO 'respect for people' of any flavor and obvious lack of 'continuous improvement' or even sporadic.

Indeed, but consider how much future time he will save. And as we all know, future time is all that matters. I feel sad because I want to do the same but I can't. Yet.
One of these days Emeryt I will join you. Mark my words. After seeing this video I feel I can do it. ... Can I at least try to level Sentry before I go though? Please???? (Addict's resolve... Fail)
  • Totally agree with you. I can now finish at least a chapter of a book easily and spend more time with my kids icon_e_wink.gif

Trust me, it's not that difficult.

What happened to the original link?
  • What happened to the original link?

All posts of OP "mysteriously disappeared" from the forum overnight. Guess someone with power was really bored and considered THAT as improvement instead of dealing with any real problems we face day to day or drop a line of important information.

Probably had something to do with the forum rules about being banned.

I'm sure it's possible to invent some rule INSTEAD of using common sense or just taking responsibility for mistakes.

It's extra amusing how IceIX showed up to issue a +1.

EDIT: Swallowed that one line sinker and hook. icon_e_biggrin.gif
