A moment of silence for our fallen...

A moment of silence...
For all those who fought the good fight beside us, who were thoughtful and helpful, always guiding new players in the game, but just couldn't bear to stay any longer and have left us. May they find peace in their new games. In their now relaxed lives of not having to watch the Dev's rip apart what could be the best game ever. We salute you. And we will miss your presence on the boards and in the game.

Someone should start a log of players that say they're quitting. I wouldn't be surprised if I see half of them in the next PvP.
  • Let's just add the names of people who knowingly quit/rage quit.

I'll start, as I watched video confirmation that he is Officially gone from the game.

In Honor of Emeryt. You will be missed here on the boards. But gotta love your go out with a bang style.
Good luck with all your endeavors!
  • But gotta love your go out with a bang style.

I dunno that throwing a two-year-old-esque fit by defacing dev posts and posting a video of a very buttmad ragequit after being banned is really "going out with a bang."

It was more about the funny. Wrong to do. But funny! Tell me that you didn't laugh when you found out? And he didn't go in and write a bunch of **** that made Ice seem unreliably crazy or anything. While I understand that editing the Site Admin's post was FAR from ok, doesn't mean I can't find the humor in it. icon_lol.gif

    And "buttmad"? icon_neutral.gif

Edit: And I really would like to keep this thread open for the useful members of our community who have left the game. If you want to discuss this other thing further, start another thread or PM me please.
  • In all the madness today, I completely forgot to add my Alliance mate to the list, who quit and uninstalled after "True Healing" patch was announced. They were the reason I started the thread to begin with.

In honor of Sup123. A great player who will be missed from CBS. icon_cry.gif Sorry to see you go. Maybe one day, if things get better with the game, you can come back.

From my first 20 person alliance Prinnys. He 10+ PVE's in a row and when PVE went to 7 days and non stop ended up to quit. I have never seen anyone dominate PVE like Prinnys

Pouring one out for Pinata who gave me a lot of good advise but just couldn't take 2.5 hour refreshes, new characters every week and the constant demand of the grind that made the game more work than fun for him.
  • Well, I quit around November for around 3 weeks and jumped back. Then after Christmas I quit again and I haven't even opened the game ever since. I like some of the recent changes that I read in the forums but I am so obsessed with Heroes Charge now. The game with the DotA heroes. I also spent some money on it the past month, something I could never come around and do in MPQ because it felt like someone was going to "steal" it from me.

But yeah, this moment of silence includes me too I guess, if anyone remembers me anyway.
  • I remember you Okin icon_e_wink.gif

...aaand on that note I'm going to step down from active duty with SKYNET at the end of this season. Ironic that it's so recently after the introduction of time slices for PvE but I really need to do something in my lunch-hour and evenings other than play MPQ and with the recent introduction of shield cooldowns I have been finding my MPQ time even more regimented than before. I probably need to get down the gym more than I need to sit in my car while playing MPQ and eating crisps.

MPQ never used to interfere in my work day, but with managing cooldowns (and aiming for 1100-1300 scores) it's started to become necessary to do shield hops during my active working hours and that's not good. I'm sure I'll post a round-up of my "one step forward, one step back" view of MPQ in the next couple of weeks.

More or less this is what brought me to my decision too. I even found myself playing while driving sometimes, which is very dangerous. I also read a post in the forums that a guy got in a car accident because he was playing MPQ. I just gave too much priority to this game and the fun started fading.

The thing is I can't stop playing games. No gamer can do that. I play on my phone, on my PC and on my XBOX every day so I'm quite addicted. I figured I should find something to replace MPQ with if I want to get rid of it. So I started playing Marvel Contest of Champions. Good game but I saw the same issue with getting heroes like in MPQ. They drop by chance, which means never. A friend of mine introduced me to this Heroes Charge game. I played it and I was sucked in it since day 1. Just what I was looking for. And it also brings back memories from DotA.

MPQ was taking too much of my free time. My fault I know, but if the mechanics of the game where different while I was playing it I might still be enjoying it. The recent changes seem promising, but it's too little too late for me.

Heh, the car thing happened to me last night. Timed my shields so that I'd be able to use a 3hr one 2.5hrs before the end as my 8hr expired... but then I got caught in traffic and with the time counting down towards expiry I made my hop. Considering I'd been in standstill traffic (M25 in rush hour for the UK people) for 1hr it was just my luck that the traffic started moving midway through my first match. Obviously I finished up and shielded again... but I was genuinely torn on whether to finish another match so I didn't waste my hop... while driving... on a motorway... in rush hour. I didn't even need the rewards.

That, along with sometimes having to play at 10am / 3pm at my desk during the working day to rotate 3hr/8hr shields is a compelling reason to walk away. I appreciate it's an issue that won't affect 95%+ of the playerbase who aren't going after top 10/25 individual season placement so I'm not screaming for change, just understanding it's not for me anymore.

As for Contest of Champions... it's got the depth of a puddle and ropes you in with pretty casual play, but once you get up to a certain point (fairly quickly) it becomes a massive grind having to rotate your stamina cooldowns to win enough points to compete in the pvp contests. I quit quickly, despite having 6 decently levelled 3* champions because I know a shallow grind when I see one.

Oh yeah, one of the reasons I decided to quit is because people started noticing I was playing on my phone at work. Good things my work buddies told that I'm being noticed and I should stop doing it. Since the game requires constant attention, I decided it's not what I need right now.

As for Contest of Champions, I couldn't agree more with you. Although I only had one 3* maxed, the game slowed down too fast. The bad thing is that even money does not help you because the random dropping of heroes is really low. And it takes massive grinding and coordination of your stamina points if you want to be optimal. I quickly understood that it was way worse than MPQ attendance-wise.

You should try Heroes Charge. I think you will like it. Just try to enter in a new server when you do in order to start from lvl 1 along with everyone in it, else you will never be able to catch up. They bring up new servers every week or so.

I am downloading that now. I am very much a pve only player now and with the new refresh time there is a yawning gap where MPQ used to be for several hours of the day. Lets see what Heroes does.
