PvP team help?

So up until now I've been ok with who was featured in pvp. I ran my 115 Punisher and 85 OBW and just hoped the featured tanked yellow. Now, hotshot gives me a problem: being forced to use HT means that squishy obw will tank yellow and the AI is unlikely to use Pun's black or red power. So my question is who should replace Punisher, if anyone, in Hotshot?

I have a few options: My 115 LCap can (assuming I use all my Iso) go to level 137 but is bad on defense
My 80 LThor can go up to 110 with all my Iso dumped into him
I have an 89 Patch (???)
Or I can just stick with Punisher, avoid yellow, and hope I don't get hit a lot

(Also I left my HT at 40 but with my Iso can be 88)

Thanks in advance

Consider just using the loaner HT, which only has one power.

That said, Rogers is, as you say, good on offense but meh on defense. So you may want to start pushes with Rogers + OBW + your HT, then swap in Punisher + OBW + loaner later for defensive purposes.

What covers does your LT have? Consider leveling him ASAP as he is excellent when coupled with oBW and actually better for defense than Punisher, especially against similar teams. Don't worry too much about oBW having yellow when with Pun; on offense you don't need to match it; on defense it won't matter as the attacker will target oBW first regardless.

Thanks I probably will go with that until I commit to taking LT further, because I just don't like having 0 Iso.

@locked I have him at 3/4/5 so once I can get him to the 120 range and have a little Iso left over I do plan on bringing him up.
    Thanks.

If you already have a 3/4/5 LT, then definitely prioritize leveling the Big Boy.
  • That's my plan when I have the Iso for it. Getting ~12,000 this morning from the events that ended certainly helped icon_e_smile.gif
  • On offense do you guys find Thor to be faster with his cascades and aoe or cap faster with his shield juggling?

LT is faster since he does AoE and all his abilities deal damage; Cap can only target one character and maybe stun another. But Cap is superb in PvE, especially with Hood/oBW.

Got it thanks. When more is released about the healing nerd I'd appreciate ideas on who should replace obw icon_e_sad.gif
  • Hello again, wise ones. So with healing now dead should my LT be doubled with Pun or Rogers (both at 115 along with LT so LT doesn't tank everything). I was thinking Rogers because on offense his red and blue together are clearly worth more than Pun's black and on defense even though his tile placement's atrocious using Pun would mean COTS would likely never go off and the Mjolnir/Retribution would be random, while with Cap I can live with the AI using either Mjolnir or shield toss, Thunder Strike is unlikely to be overridden by a 19 ap move, and cots is bound to happen in regular length fights thus deterring attackers.

Is this the right move or am I missing something?

Yes. If you're looking to pair someone with LT, then Rogers is better than Punisher. An interesting thing to consider is that you may want LT to tank everything. If he tanks everything, then you only need to use health packs on him instead of going into a fight with two half-dead characters, hoping the enemy doesn't manage to pull off an AOE.

Good call. Now I just have to figure what to do about purple and black after hollow point :/. Having to avoid 1/3 of the board will not be fun

You can still play oBW, just not for any sustained period of time...

That's my problem. Up until now I've done pvp in one run up to 800ish, shielded and usually gotten t10 (although since the change of rewards I hopped once per pvp at the very end to secure t5 at ~900). Now I can't do that anymore icon_e_sad.gif. It will require more time and more shields or sacrificing 2/6 colors. Wish I had more UDaken

I'm not convinced it will take more shields. In the HotShot tourney I took HT/LT/LC (granted LT is 141, and LC 135) from like 400 to 900+ in one go using the allotted 5 health packs. It might take more time though, as you can easily play for an hour or so up to say 5-600, rest the 3 hours or whatever you need to replenish health packs, and then resume climbing from 3-400 up to that 900 mark before shielding (or 850 or wherever you normally shield at least).

Yeah you're right. Went up to 600 with 128 LT, 115 LC and 81 GSBW. Had a health pack left at the end and now will finish when the packs are back and an 8 hour shield would cover me until the end. With the enemies I saw up until now (thanks tanking) don't expect to be hit for much at this point
