Adding Falcon to my roster

Hi

I'm been doing pretty well in the game. I've spent only a few dollars to get a 13 character roster but can't really keep spending money. I just got offered Falcon who I see is a defensive character. It's something I could use more of but to take him, I'd have to sell someone else in the next few days.

My current roster is:
Ironman 35 (level 50)
Storm Classic (level 47)
Black Widow Original (level 38)
Wolverine X-Force (level 30)
Moonstone (level 30)
Thor Now (level 29)
Venom (level 21)
Hulk (level 18)
Captain America Steve Rogers (level 15)
Black Widow Grey Suit (level 15)
Human Torch ( level 15)
Doctor Doom (level 15) UPGRADE COMING IN SHIELD RESUPPLY
Magento Now (level 12) NEEDED FOR CURRENT TORNAMENT

PS I'm really enjoining this game. Thanks.

Sell Venom/Moonstone, or both. They are never required and extremely rarely get buffs. Venom is limited and you won't need him, Moonstone just fails where original Black Widow excels. Always keep your 3*s. 4*s are a stretch, especially X-Force and IW: in essence, they are pretty trophies atm and that's it.

I'd drop Venom first. Moonstone can be helpful in a Dark Avengers event if you don't have a third. You can also use her in the 2* stage if you don't have anyone else to control countdown tiles.
  • Moonstone is often buffed in PvE, and she's very good at fighting very high level goons if you don't have a solid CD lockdown team, which you do not have based on your roster. I don't think I've ever seen Venom buffed for a PvE event.

Falcon, when combined with Daken, is one of the strongest duo in PvE. For PvP, it seems like people perceive this duo as weak and you may have an increased amount of attacks, though if you're still in the OBW dominant range of opponent, those two are probably the best characters in the game against OBW even defensively. However, Falcon is hard to keep alive because he will usually get all of his colors (lazy Daken can take purple from him, but not 2* Daken) and he certainly can't tank.

He already has oBW and oBW is better for dealing with CDs. Moonstone just packs some punch on red, but so does Wolvie**, and he's better.
  • I find Falcon useful in combination with Daken, Doctor Doom, 2* Wolverine, Psylocke, Punisher, Torch, ... generally any character that generates attack or strike tiles.
He strengthens portect tiles too, but since he has his own protect tile generating power (purple), I usually don't use another defensive character beside him. The advantage of Falcon's protect tiles is that they are many "small" ones, instead of just one big one, so if your opponent matches one, it really doesn't matter. Triggering that power takes 4 matches, if I remember that correctly.
With his blue power he can remove a limited number of enemy special tiles, which can also be useful, but won't help you much if the enemy generates lots of them, because that power is a little slow. Still, it has come in handy for me on occasion.

I agree with what has already been said, however, his health is somewhat weak. Furthermore, he has no offensive abilities at all.

I feel that Falcon is one of those characters where you have to try him out in play to see if he suits you or not. I quite like him, but that's a matter of taste.

As for your roster, I mostly agree with what's been said. Personally I find 3* Widow (Grey Suit) somewhat useless, except for generating tons of green tiles. But her red power is just meh, IMO, and her green power deals a lot of damage, but is way slow. I'd mostly invest ISO into Original Black Widow and Thor. Torch is a very strong and fast offensive character, his relatively low health being his only weakness, so building him up is recommended (depending on how many covers of him you have). The trouble with your Iron Man, of course, is that he is at his max already and can't be brought further, so eventually you'll "outgrow" him. When I play him again now (mostly in PvE), I also find him kind of slow in dealing damage.

Sell Venom. Maybe X-Force too -- he might get buffed eventually, but right now he's worthless at any level.

If you get a Falcon yellow cover, he goes well with 2* Daken.
  • Not sure why people think Falcon is a defensive character, unless you don't have Daken (even 2* suffices). Inspiration is actually stronger than Phermone Rage once 3 strikes tiles are on the board, because Phermone Rage stops adding power when you run out of red tiles but Inspiriation has no such limit. Yes Inspiration only happens on your match but it's more than twice the strength of Phermone Rage. It's almost never practical to try to make a lot of purple matches solely for defensive purposes. If you want to do that you should use Spiderman instead. A lot of time I don't even use Bird Strike even when I have enough because I don't want to waste Inspiration on defense when you can put the game away in 3 more turns on just match 3s. The only drawback to Falcon is that he is extremely fragile. He's pretty much certain to tank yellow (strongest) and blue (only Psylocke could take that color out of any meaningful combos that involve Falcon, because Magneto doesn't go well with Falcon), and he'll get purple if your Daken is behind on levels. Keeping Falcon alive is extremely difficult which is why he's hard to use in PvP.

If you ever wondered how to counter a team with Hood and OBW, I suggest using Spider-Man/Bullseye, Lazy Daken/Daken, and Falcon.
