D3P who is in control of your official message board? The wardens or the inmates?

I get you really dont give a flying picket about anything other than money. I remember the eighties and yeah greed is good but there are such things a standards. You as developers have let the game go to ruin in the dash for the cash but it will cost nothing to keep your message boards nice clean and civil. Appoint some moderators who will adhere to the guidelines you lay out for them, appoint an official D3P rep to act as Super Moderator/Senior Site Admin and then use Google to find one of the many great anti spam plug ins for phbb.

The fact that so many moderators upped and quit or have just gone rogue in such a short space of time speaks volumes.

  • Official boards are usually moderated guys who are on the company's payroll, as opposed to free slave labor.

I have moderated Official Nintendo UK forums and been a UbiSoft Global moderator alongt with chat moderator for The Settlers Online and Anno Online and never got a penny. In general forums are moderated by unpaid volunteers from the community. Admin is different as they are on a company payroll.

We used to have mods (good ones), several have quit. And there is very little admin attention these days so we cant even get them replaced.

This is where I learned to play. I learned strategies and the ins and outs of characters and combinations. It is sad to see how much it has devolved.

We get admin attention. Just silently lurking admin attention. I have Pm'ed IceIX about being a mod. I know several others have too. He reads the message, then never responds. I've been waiting almost a month for a response to my request. I would even be ok if he sent me a rejection letter. LOL. But by my count, we only have 2 active mods left. And they are quickly burning out, and I can't blame them. They have to spend all their time banning spam and don't get to actually enjoy the forums.
