Hi Everyone –

Here are the R221 Release Notes!

“The end always justifies the means”

- Guide your team to victory with the Savior of Mutantkind, Cyclops (Phoenix Five), now in select events!

- Battle your way to the top in the new Alliance Event Spider-Man vs. Sinister Six on 2/18!

Additional Details:

  • Players above S.H.I.E.L.D. Rank 14 will now correctly have a chance of seeing Daily Quests that require making matches of any type and/or of a certain color.
  • Selecting "Train" from rewards will no longer Power Shift a max level champion character under certain conditions; the cover will always correctly apply to a non-champion or champion that has not yet reached max level.
  • 5* Deadpool (Spirit of Vengeance)'s taco menu no longer appears when firing another character's power under certain conditions.
  • The "LOANED" banner now correctly appears on the appropriate character icon(s) in the team selection screen.

    Much as I've been a proponent of Omega Red all this time, I'd rather he be a 5* than a 4, and also this sentiment predates the Russian revolution by a few hundred years, being widely attributed to Machiavelli's "The Prince" from the 1500s. Not sure that gives us anything useful to go on, just felt compelled to point it out. There could I suppose be a 4* variant on Apocalypse or Magneto, who are probably the ends justify the means-iest characters in marvel that I know of...

    At this point with the posted data mined stuff having been true for the last three not much point in guessing. Nice though for an Alliance event.

    Sounds like something Punisher would say, but obviously it's not another one of him...

    It was always a little upsetting that we never got a Netflix Punisher tie-in because that character was excellently done.

    I wouldn't mind going up against boss versions of Scorpion, Mysterio, and Kraven. Speaking of which, why isn't Electro in the game yet
    I've been hoping we'd get a "second" Sinister Six boss event once enough people were in the game. Scorpion, Mysterio, Kraven, Prowler, add in Electro (you got to have Electro), then one more, probably Hobgoblin. Maybe make it Miles themed for fun?

    I thought it sounded very "Punisher" as well. If we want to get picky, 4* Punisher Max was our Netflix tie-in, he launched alongside Daredevil Season 2, where he first appeared. But I get what you're saying, that's not the same as a Netflix version of the character (like Jessica Jones or 5* Daredevil).

    But I can't think of anyone else. I don't know of any similar "ruthless vigilante" types. You could maybe make a stretch with some scientist characters, that line of thinking is how MCU Tony Stark created Ultron. But it's usually a one-off story thing, not something I would think of as describing an entire character, you know? And there's not a big relevant story going on right now where that could point us to a specific character.

    Unless...

    Wandavision.

    As well as Lizard and 🦏 Rhino. Spider villains were the best .

    Anyone else having an issue post update? I updated and now the game won't go past the loading screen. It just sits there.

    EDIT: Never mind, after about 3 minutes it finally loaded. Weird.

    Googled "ends justify the means"
    Led me to "consequentialism"
    Googled "consequentialism marvel"
    Tons of articles about Thanos, which is a perfect fit for this clue, but obviously isn't the right answer.

    Did some more googling and found an article on "10 Marvel Villains Who Thought They Were Doing The Right Thing"

    The ones who don't currently have a 4* variant:
    Magneto (but we just got a 5* version, so probably not him)
    Ultron (a current non-playable baddie, so likely not him)
    Killmonger (a recent 5*, so no)
    Kaecilius (another current non-playable baddie, so likely not him)
    Hela (doubtful we get a 4* variant)
    Helmut Zemo...maybe???

    So then I got to thinking outside the google box: this could be a tie-in to WandaVision. I don't want to say how for those that haven't seen the series. But could be 4* Wanda? That would be topical.

    The line is Machiavellian so I'm going to suggest that taken with his treatise, The Prince, we're getting Baron Zemo.

    Ends justifying the means: Zemo producing weapons for N*zis.
    The Prince: Baron

    Also, promo photos have been released of Zemo in Falcon and Winter Soldier.

    The real question, though, is will Zemo's powers include Adhesive X? And, if so, will we see Trapster/Paste Pot Pete soon afterwards?

    Zemo would be a good tie in for The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, but it's a bit early.  But maybe the release window for the star tier doesn't line up any better.

    I heard that Batroc is coming back for Flaptain & Winter Soldier, I wonder if we'll ultimately see him in game?

    The clue would be very fitting for Wandas attitude and a tie-in with the only marvel property since.... uhm ...since....does bumping back Black Widow release count? A long time, it has been a long time since we had new Marvel to watch. Disney has to be itching to Release The Marketing!!!
    I would love a reality shift power that changes colors and manipulates the board. Maybe a niche power that only works on variants. 
    Moira Mactaggert has sacrificed herself/anything/everything in the sake of finding a cure/ all for the sake of the ends. 
    Baron Zemo makes great sense, He would be fitting for one of those annoying hurts your teammates skills. 
    The hint smacks of 2099 but there is heavy redundancy for that ‘verse; I like GR but 2@4* is a lil too much too soon. Doom? What if by Crom! we got Conan!! Some kind of Morgan LeFey passive that mixes ihulk/bigpun, an invisibility and a brutal red nuke. 
    It reminds me of Galactus Heralds. Nova? A 4* Norin?!? Terrax,Firelord.......Golden Oldie!!

    So the new Sinister Six seems very much like the old Sinister Six.
