Another "moving to 5* land" question

I have enough covers & iso to champ Black Bolt, Dr Strange and Green Goblin.
Is it worth moving up with these 3, or should I wait until I have better 5's covered?
I have the likes of Okoye, Thor, Kitty, JJ, etc at around the 8-10 cover mark.
(I'm a F2P player, so it will take me a while to fully cover those)

Every time someone is considering moving up to 5 land the question is whether they PVP, and how much.
Seeing any combination of those 3 in PVP would be an instant hit for me (assuming the points were reasonable).
So you might see it get harder to push up to 900 with that grouping.... if you aren't playing that much or you go more for progression than it's not a big deal and at least you can probably do your PVE a little faster.
I'd probably be looking to keep that group around 360, though.5 -
Thanks for the insight.I'm one of the apparently rare players that is roughly 50:50 PVE/PVP.Well, maybe 60:40 PVE.I guess I've been patient so far, might as well wait for 3 meta-characters to make the transition. It's just that I'm at a weird point now that almost all 4's are champed, where I have more iso than I need.I'm getting an itchy trigger finger because I've never been in this position before, lol.0

You shouldn't transition if you play PvP until you can champ at least one meta character for that level. You don't have Okoye, Kitty, or Hawkeye. I'd sit tight.0

@GoldenArm
I'm also pretty much 50/50ish. Another consideration is how strong are your 4*. My personal tact has been to raise my 5* up to my MMR (approx the average of your 3 highest characters... some ppl think the formula is different, but it's roughly this). That way, I can still use my 4* as much as I want in pvp. As @bluewolf said, 360 is a nice softcap level for the 5*. Since you're playing PVP a lot, if you champ your 5*, I would personally think it'd get boring having to play as the same character over and over.0 -

5* Dr. Strange is literally life-changing from a PvE perspective. My clear times easily dropped by twenty minutes in some events.0

You would probably be fine just keep your expectations in perspective. assuming you have have good distribution of 4* in the 270-300 range, you’ll have a good range of combo teams to use. The more important issue is from a leaderboard perspective. Your ability to climb and hold points will be measured against more experienced and knowledgeable players. So you have to make good decisions on when your A team should accept a match or skip, learning when the big points have to hop, what’s a good time to climb vs hold shield etc.
if your smart with your play and willing to make 2-3 shieldhops then 1200 is a very makeable goal. If you try to go head to head vs the biggest players in the shard during prime zombie time then you’ll be lucky to break 900.

I used to play PvP on a limited basis (up to 300 usually). Since I champed my first 5* (DD) I've not played at all. I have Hawkeye champed and OML but still no point. PvE clears are no quicker really because I use Grockitty most of the time. I've added a level 250 pocket radio to OML so might use him more now but if I loved PvP I'd be very much regretting champing any of them.1

Wait- I did the move with Darevil, JJ, Pheonix and Bearded Cap and it is a nightmare in PvP, I can’t hover anywhere , I get hammered even if I have 30 points - I think people just use me as a free skip lol. That’s true in SCL 7-8-9 i just get my 10 CP and I am out of there. I just can’t afford to use a bunch of HP for a 4* I don’t really use anymore. It’s is amazing in PvE though.0

Depending on what you want from pvp it may not require you to get a full on meta character, but it will definitely put you in a new status Quo for how your points shake out. Once you do it it can take a long time to get any more 5*s though.0

This. Definitely with Gritty, and most of the time with Okoye and boosted 4*, and currently with Hawkeye & WorthyCap, you can transition starting with a single 5* and take a half-step into 5* play.Borstock said:You shouldn't transition if you play PvP until you can champ at least one meta character for that level. Okoye amplifies the offence of pretty much every team, but is weaker defensively than Gritty or HE/Worthy.
With a single 5* champ, I was seeing other single 5* teams, as well as champed-and-boosted 4* teams. Pretty reasonable to win against.
With two 5* champs, I am seeing more variety in the 5* I am matched against, eg two champs, but also a fair number of single champs with a level 390 supporter. But once I get higher in points it is still all Gritty, HE/Worthy, Bishop/JJ, Bishop/Strange that people leave on defence. I would hit a small Okoye team before any of them.So OP would have a good defensive team in Bishop/Strange, but I suspect they wouldn’t be much fun to climb with.
But, if your Kitty or Okoye was a decent distribution, and could be levelled to 390 or higher, then maybe it would be viable to climb with them and float with Strange?0 -
I can actually still win early in a climb with an all boosted 4* (+ required) team, but it took me awhile to realize that. Ideally you'd have a 5* that will give you fast wins once you switch to them - my first 5*, ghost rider, was VERY slow, but he did hit pretty hard, so I could win, but not quickly. GE Doom as my second made that much easier, and I'd also by then gotten my Chavez up into the 320s/30s, so even un-boosted she was often the best partner for fast wins. Those criticals on a modern high-match 5* really come into play, and going in with a few +AP boosts to kick it off early really helps.0

I've got five 5* champs and PvP is a nightmare because don't have Kitty, Okoye or Thor champed :-(0

I continue to consider it basically inexcusable that the 5 tier has such a disparity in quality (and that it changes so little) given the extreme difficulty in covering them in general.maguirenumber6 said:I've got five 5* champs and PvP is a nightmare because don't have Kitty, Okoye or Thor champed :-(
Thor released November 3, 2017 - 2 years and 18 5's ago (he was #20)
Okoye released May 17, 2018 - 1 1/2 years and 13 5's ago (she was #25)
Kitty released September 20, 2018 - 1 year and 2 months and 10 5's ago (she was #28)
All buried by extreme dilution barring the occasional special store.
Should I mention Thanos who released in December 2016 yet remains the PVE 5 of choice 3 years later?
The horrible state of chasing 5's aside, while Prof X and Iceman are not replacing the meta, they can be run effectively together and the current store is probably the best since Kitty was in it (not that her partners were good at any time).
Of course, if you somehow have Hawkeye as one of your champs you can run HEW pretty well if you don't mind burning health packs and having matches take forever.6 -
I chased 5* Hawkeye specifically because of his synergy with Coulson and G4mora, so you can imagine my surprise and delight when Worthy Cap showed up.bluewolf said:

Gamora's stun is cheap enough that you can get it off pretty regularly with Coulson and Hawkeye generating AP. It's not a fast team, but it let me punch above my weight level pretty reliably.OJSP said:
What specifically does Gamora do in that team? Stun the team? Would that be fast enough for Hawkeye and Coulson to make more APs and to win a match, compared to, let's say, having Carol to boost some strike tiles or Wasp who passively makes a CD and steals AP?MegaBee said:I chased 5* Hawkeye specifically because of his synergy with Coulson and G4mora1 -
G4mora's red is also really good for the tier (Mine does 6617 on fire, then 1105/turn for 4 turns at lvl 299), but i'm not sure how it compares to a champed Deep Breath in total damage. My Hawkeye is only 2/5/3 lvl 352, so it's pretty comparable right now. It costs 10 red for that damage, whereas Deep Breath 5 to fire, and an additional 9 red to do full damage, and it does no damage on fire, just on resolution. So your mileage may vary on that.0

Deep breath is probably better overall. With a champed HE, and 3 red covers (because 5/5/3 is the generally the best way to run him), it costs 5/14 ap and will do 6.5k/21k. It takes 3 turns to resolve, but it is almost always going to go off because it is fortified, and will return 5 AP when it resolves. although I suppose that if you wanted to run him with gamora you could run HE 5/3/5. Then he would do 8k/27k damage for the same cost.ThaRoadWarrior said:G4mora's red is also really good for the tier (Mine does 6617 on fire, then 1105/turn for 4 turns at lvl 299), but i'm not sure how it compares to a champed Deep Breath in total damage. Vhailorx is correct. Deep Breath is cheaper, which allows you to fire it more often, which triggers Coulson more often, and it almost always resolves, which gives you that sweet AP return. The goal is to keep the enemy team constantly stunned. It's not fast, but it works really well.Vhailorx said:

^ yeah that seems superior in either case.0
