If the problem persists and you want to cancel your subscription, it is possible to do so without having a functioning MTGPQ app.
Update - due to Matthew’s post below, I reiterate that, I do not advocate removing your subscription, but if you think that you cannot stop a subscription without the app, then I’m showing you an alternative here.

Update - due to Matthew’s post below, I reiterate that, I do not advocate removing your subscription, but if you think that you cannot stop a subscription without the app, then I’m showing you an alternative here.
iOS - Follow these steps
How to cancel an App Store or News+ subscription on iPhone or iPad
- Launch the Settings app.
 - Tap iTunes & App Store.
 - Tap on your Apple ID.
 - Tap View Apple ID when the pop up window appears.
 - Enter your Apple ID password or fingerprint ID when prompted.
 - Tap Subscriptions.
 - Tap the Subscription you want to cancel.

Android - see post by @mburn7 among the first 5 posts. Sorry, since I don’t have an Android unit I can’t test any description for accuracy.
Of course I hope it will not be necessary for anyone to use the procedure.

More seriously though, and to be sure I'm on topic, thanks for posting this. I know a few people were talking about this in my team chats.
The concern here is that we're rapidly approaching the renewal date for many people. And yet we've been actively locked out of the app, so people are wondering how to cancel their subscription if they can't do it through the app. This is good info that needs to be shared. A company that screws up this badly doesn't deserve financial support from its customers. Speak with your wallets, folks: If you've signed up for VIP, go ahead and cancel it until they address several issues. Here are just a few that I can think of off the top of my head:
1. A stable, working game
2. A friggin' testing and QC team. Seriously, how the hell can you push something like this to a live state? The only logical conclusion is that you guys didn't test it to see what would happen.
3. Much more open communication. Ya'll keep us in the dark like you think you're doing yourselves a favor. You're not. It only pisses us off.6 -
Great info, thank you for sharing this!
Now what do you do if you have an android?0 -

You can cancel subscriptions in the app store. I did it when I got the free week.FindingHeart8 said:Great info, thank you for sharing this!

There is a "subscriptions" page in the Google Play Store menu where you can manage stuff.1 -

Thank you, going to go do that nowMburn7 said:

Fun fact: this option is only available at the Play Store, the Google Play Games app (where I've gone for all my mtgpq updates in the past) does not have this option.0

I didn't even know there was a Google Play Games app. What does that do? And what would make it better than the store?FindingHeart8 said:Fun fact: this option is only available at the Play Store, the Google Play Games app (where I've gone for all my mtgpq updates in the past) does not have this option.0 -
For Android people: (Obviously you need to login to the google account associated with your phone)

I just noticed that when you're viewing the game on the Play Store, under the normal Uninstall/Install/Update buttons, there is a Manage Subscriptions that you can click and accomplish the same thing that I posted above.FindingHeart8 said:Fun fact: this option is only available at the Play Store, the Google Play Games app (where I've gone for all my mtgpq updates in the past) does not have this option.
Honestly, this is two days of having issues. Does it really warrant cancellation at this point? I think they will give us something to allay our frustration of the last two days. I'm not cancelling.0 -
2 days of not being able to play a game you are paying for is pretty bad. I haven't cancelled yet, but if the game isn't playable all day today I'm considering it.0

The issue is when the renewal time is for a lot of players. If you can't login to the app to get your renewal rewards (or if the app is buggy and you don't get them credited at all) you are losing out on a lot of stuff.EvilDead said:

Better to cancel for now and then just renew when the app is up and running again just to be safe.2 -

I gotcha. Better hope the VIP levels don't work off of renewal streaks at that point. You might still be stuck at 1 once you subscribe again.....The issue is when the renewal time is for a lot of players. Of course they didn't to any QC.... they have yet to prove that they even have a QC department, because if they did they should have been fired over a year ago. There is no QC because THEY DON'T CARE....2

I'm not sure if it's better persay, it's just what I was using. It has all your games together for easy access, updates, also you can leave public reviews for games. I honestly forgot there was an actual Play Store and had to search it on Google.Mburn7 said:

I had some serious issues with VIP when I first signed up (basically mostly dupe rewards and no communication from developers until I escalated with D3).EvilDead said:

I've also been opposed to most of the changes the developers have made recently (no daily RT, loop timer, lower chances of good cards in packs, etc)
This is moreso the straw that broke the camels back scenario. Game not working right before VIP autorenewal is good grounds for being more cautious about how I spend my money with this game.
At this point I do not believe the developers really care about the opinions of the mtgpq community, which makes me less inclined to buy their digital content.0
