Hi everyone,

Here's a quick update from Demiurge regarding today's issue with defensive teams. This was a tricky one to solve and it took a bit of time for the engineers to track down what occurred. We apologize for the inconvenience and that we were not able to provide solid details regarding this unintended situation sooner.
"Around 11:45 this morning, the server stopped updating defensive teams in Versus events. The issue has been addressed and defensive teams should be updating correctly again."

Thank you.

With regards to the previous post announcing there had been no change to the PvP matchmaking system, were you aware there was a glitch in the matrix at that time?

If so, I hope you don't mind me suggesting that that was something worth pointing out in your topic. "There is, however, currently a bug that we're aware of but haven't tracked down. We'll keep you posted."

If you weren't aware at the time then...I guess you did the best you could.

Either way, thanks for updating us now. Glad it was something quickly fixed.

    @DN:

The only information I had this morning was direct word from the developers that no changes had been made. It would have been better if I added the word "intended" changes so it was clearer this was likely a bug. I had no additional info other than "this isn't something we changed."

The intent in the announcement was pretty clear. We didn't purposefully change anything. Sometimes when you're stomping on fires the words don't come out perfectly.

Hopefully, the next time speculation is rampant that a "stealth" change was made, we can all take a collective breath and wait and see what's going on before posting sky-is-falling commentary.

    @animerat

You can put the pitchfork away now. Jobob received a 24 hour break from the forums for inciting flames. He'll be back tomorrow. Thanks.

I glad that the bug was now detected and fixed however it does not address the problem I had because I could not switch my team, the points I lost, and the placement I would have had! What is going to happen now!

Sorry if it felt like I was heaping the blame entirely on your comminuques, that wasn't my intention. I was merely speculating as to one possible reason for the backlash.
The backlash, I hasten to add, that was quite tiresome to read IMO. Yes there was an issue, but it gets frustrating seeing these things turn into memes so quickly.

Gotta remember we're only human, I guess. I tend to err on the side of thinking that things like this are a result of "Whoops!" and not "That'll teach the little SOBs".

So yeah, it seems the latter scenatio I posted was true, there was no official word on anything for you to relay, so in the circumstances there was not much else anyone could do.
We as a forum really need to cool down a bit until we get official word. It's not like a few months ago where there was no official word, I'm noticing the guys in red are taking a much more hands-on approach to the forums these days after swearing it off due to the somewhat toxic nature of some posters. Now that we have them back, can we not scare them off, please?

I am very appreciative of the increased communication from the reds. Hopefully this increased communication will cause some of the more easily upset members of this message board to become upset less often?

Let's make the forums a more welcoming place for dev amd publisher interaction!

Agreed. I mean, there are times when bad stuff happens, but flying off the handle and getting bitter and angry will only make them want to come here less. I work in a customer service role and the customers who come up spitting and swearing tend to get the worse service compared to those who politely come up and ask for assistence.

Just saying...the devs seem to be making the effort to bring matters to our attention not only when it's fixed, but also when something's identified as wrong. Communication is very important with games like this on both sides.

It's great seeing the devs coming back to the forums to interact. I honestly missed seeing the updates of what was being looked at and tweaked and hinted at and such. Long may it continue =)

I'm curious to know why problems normally seem to occur on Fridays. If their office is anything like mine on a Friday then they are more focused on the weekend than their job icon_lol.gif

Anyways glad the issue is fixed so the MPQ players can go back to their happily grinding lives icon_e_biggrin.gif

How about some compensation for all the aggravation that all these diehard players had to endure!

At the risk of excessive sarcasm: how about compensation to everybody on the forum who wasn't able to play due to work/life and still had to endure the collective toddler-level temper tantrum thrown by the collective forum membership? I deal with that kind of attitude from kids in my day job, and don't want it bleeding over into my hobbies.

I am worried that this "glitch" was just an early implementation of what is planned.

Before it was fixed, I saw nothing but OML/Rulk (80+% clip!) OML/JG (maybe 10%) PH/Rulk (maybe 5%). It was awful. Barely hit 1,000 and quit...I am concerned that's the D3 plan.

After the fix suddenly I saw lots more teams! Because folks could be out there getting more points with "only" two high-level non-boosted 4*'s. But it was to late for me - all health packs were used up.

If the plan is to make 1300 require multiple shields and therefore lots of time, all you would be doing is taking progression possibilities away from more people. If the plan is to make the 24 hour shield practically necessary, all you are doing is making progression pay-only.....

"At the risk of excessive sarcasm" come on guy! Sorry u had to work and could not play and experience the extreme aggravation the rest of us experienced during the "glitch" or the lost of HP I had to use on extra shields. Are you sure one of your toddlers did not write your above statement?

Couldnt play due to "work/life" .... But you could "endure" the forum?

    Hmmmmm icon_e_wink.gif

Friday was the most hilarious, rollickin' day this mortuary has seen in a long time. A lil brown on a fan always livens it right up!

I'm back and while I appreciate the support, but no one needs to fret over my "timeout." I went in with eyes wide open and pretty much knew that I left the mod staff with no choice but to give me a day off. 24h was fair and, to be frank, I've been on forums where it would've been longer. So let's not be too hard on them.

I totally get that. And, like you said, the words don't always come out perfectly in line with the intentions behind them. Similarly, I wasn't trying to spread misinformation. I'm just a dumb ol' country boy from rural Alabama, I don't know a "stealth patch" from a "data push," or "server lag" from a "systems crash." The point was (and I hope my intention was clear) that something had indeed changed, so the people who do the programming need to be made aware of it. I didn't commence with the "inciting flames" part until I felt like that feedback wasn't being taken seriously.

I appreciate the work the mods and reds put in. but, when something was clearly different and had changed, it might have helped if the 'official' word wasn't "nothing changed, situation normal, nothing to see here, move along" (somewhat paraphrased and embellished, admittedly - but that was the perception). I think it was the perceived dismissal that got more ire up than the bug itself. the bug itself got the collective top end of the playerbase going on a problem-solving mission (for workarounds) until the denial of any change. didn't really effect me because I was putting out fires of my own. it certainly galvanized the snipers/bakers sides lol.

and thank you thank you thank you for the increased presence and increased postings and responses. I can't tell you how much that helps. keep it up.
