Thank you very much for this post! This answers a lot of questions.

I would still like some clarification on one particular rule, if anybody can help:
Roster a character for the first time - 20XP

Does this mean rostering any non-duplicate character (e.g. I don't have 2* Wolverine in my roster, I roster him for an event, I get the XP regardless of whether I have had him in the past or not), or strictly only for the first time (e.g. I sell my level 144 Wolverine and re-roster him; even if I don't have any other Wolverines in my roster, I don't get the XP because it's not the first time I'm rostering him).

Also there's a :heropoints: in the original post you may want to replace with imcoin.png or spideycoin.png (I'll edit this out if you do) icon_e_wink.gif
No they thought of that. It's only the first time you roster a character that you get the XP. If you remove them from your roster and then roster them again you don't get the XP.

You do, however, get 1 XP every time you train a star.png character power.

1xp isn't worth the 100 iso though is it?

edit: I don't think Jamie was advocating applying covers to 1s for xp, but just pointing out that that is another source. I was just asking for clarification on the perceived worth of the 1 xp.

Yeah, doesn't seem worth it. For the 10 XP you would get applying ten covers for Juggernaut or Venom, you would lose 1000 ISO by not selling those covers. By contrast, you could just play one node of DDQ or a non-repeatable PVE node and get 10 XP -- and actually gain ISO. I think the 1 XP for star.png characters is just for new players to earn some XP.

Yeah as a player I don't see it as being worth it.

Not now of course, but that's going to be one of the primary sources when you're first starting the game.

Most people would probably already assume this, but the 10xp for "check mark"ing a mission node also includes the Prologue missions.

I'd love to see PvP being worth more somehow. As it is, I really don't play much PvP, and some more XP would definitely provide me with some incentive. Also, it doesn't appear that lightning rounds provide XP which is kind of a bummer.

I assume there is no magic way to get XP and ISO out of the 1 star.png covers.

If you have an empty roster slot you can roster 1 cover - but get zero XP for this from what I read (assuming you've previously rostered the 1 star.png)

It's then only the 2nd cover applied to a character that gains the 1XP, selling a 2 cover character nets you 100ISO, so still net loss of 100ISO for 1XP, which I'm pretty sure is not worth it.

That correct or am I missing something.

That is exactly right: I rostered star.png Spidey, added 12 covers, gained 12 XP and lost out on 1200 iso8.png
Might be worth it if you're really desperate for XP or have too much iso8.png (there must be some out there).

    Nice info.

What I'm more curious about is how accurate was the grandfathered level? It's hard to calculate with so many people of varying roster coming in at 65. But for those that were under, if you based it purely on roster (xp for recruit + x covers + x champion + x champion levels), did d3 get it right?

Edit: just realised in order to know this, we need info on xp required for each levels too.

That said, you would also have to know when the rosters were evaluated. Was it on the fly? That is, a calculation made right when you logged into your acct using the R108 app for the first time? Or was everyone weighed at a recent point, awards calculated, and pushed out along with the update?

For instance, to answer Pongie's question (and raise another), as of right now (after investing the 867K iso awarded and a nother couple more days of play....), my roster is worth 35,043 XP. That's enough for level 52 and change. Just short of level 53.

But I was a "maximum player" ... level 65 ... which takes roughly 22K more XP.

So where did the rest of the XP come from? Did they throw in past purchases? Some aspects of past game activity? Characters sold in the past?

That's another welcome surprise then. That means the lower your grandfathered level, the better off you (are in term of xp).

For calculating your grandfather level did you count all the XP you would have for a completed Prologue? That would be easy for the app to add on top of the roster snap-shot.

Also they may have thrown in a whack of XP to account for clears and pack openings etc in the last month, say 100xp/active day in the last month.

Assuming you were asking me, no, because that didn't seem to be Pongie's question. I believe he was asking whether anyone was sure whether D3 had gotten it right in calculating the XP value of a roster. In my case, they did, and obviously counted more than that.

As far as what was counted beyond the value of the account's roster at whatever point they were evaluated, who knows. Could be lots of things ... and must be several things. 22K XP, beyond the roster, is a lot. I haven't opened 2200 LTs, or 7,000 heroics (I don't think... that'd be 9/day since I started ... yeah, no way icon_lol.gif ) Only D3/Demi could say.

But I hope they don't. Because only they have the data. No point in showing their hand, and setting off a rash of players sharpshooting their calculations. Demi has the data, for whatever they decided to count. Even if they told the players precisely what was counted, it's still Demi's data that matters. CS doesn't need hundreds of players writing in to complain they "should have been level" whatever.*

It's free iso, and speaking generally, players with longer play time, more developed rosters, etc., received more (up to the cutoff). Yay.

    * They're probably already dealing with a pile of tickets ... new features breed issues!

I think it's probably easier to calculate from your roster. Than whatever your xp score is you multiple by a value. The value is determined by a table.

For instance 5000xp is mulitpled by 1.
    10000 mutliplied by 2.

It wouldn't go up by 1 value every 5000xp though. The reasoning is that the more xp you gain from your roster, the more likely you played pve and pvp event to get the covers. Playing pve events nets you xp and since they don't know how many you played, they can only guess.. Also you would probably have to open a certain number of tacos, heroics, and event tokens to get your roster where it is so all that is factored in by the multiplication table.

Mod voice post. Anything past the current level achieved by the player base is considered to be unconfirmed and therefore subject to change. I've been asked to remove it for now, but I'll put it back up as we hit each level.

Most people would probably already assume this, but the 10xp for "check mark"ing a mission node also includes the Prologue missions.

Thanks so much for this tip, I'm going to hit my next rank a lot sooner because of it icon_e_smile.gif

I just gave team-ups of 1 5* and 2 4*s. I received 15 XP and 8 XP. That seems inconsistent with the listed values.

The XP banner does combinations if you do things rapidly. The 5* TU gave you the 5xp, and the 8xp was for the 2 4* TUs.

    I just sent a fiend 5 TUs. One 5*, two 4*, two 3*. 1 • 5xp + 2 • 4xp + 2 • 3xp = 19xp, right? I saw 1 banner for 5xp, and 1 banner for 14xp. Right amount, but not 5 different banners.

The first time I saw that happen was when rapidly applying a bunch of covers to a 2* champ. Got banners for various multiples of 4xp. The right total amount. I thought, "Nifty .... but that will cause confusion" icon_lol.gif
I assume you sent your fiend Cho teamups?
