Why are my match-ups so uneven?

The last couple of days, I've only gotten opponents with level 85+ characters across the board. My highest char is level 70... I can maybe beat one person (after searching for like 10 minutes) then I have to fully recover. What's the deal with matchmaking?

    Everyone has a hidden Matchmaking Rating (MMR) for PvP. Every time you beat someone it goes up a bit, when you lose a fight (doesn't matter if they attacked you or you attacked them) it goes down a bit. You always get opponents with MMR similar to yours.

    Basically, if you always pick on easy fights to win or use boosts to win fights above what your roster should be at, eventually your MMR just goes up and up and you'll be matched with harder and harder opponents. In that case you just gotta lose some so your MMR comes back down to the level it should be for your character levels.
