I'm currently in the top 50 for this event and I still haven't reached 15k...I don't think I will get to top progression unless the nodes start awarding some serious points soon.

On every pve, the scores given on later nodes are much higher.0

Without a serious increase, it looks like this progression structure was intended to function under the 3hr refresh system.
Or to just demand optimal play from everyone... for reasons.
