In game chat problems

I've noticed this since I first joined an alliance a few months ago, the chat in game will have an exclamation point but no new messages will appear. I have to force stop the app and restart it to get the messages to appear. Just recently I've noticed that a message that was there will disappear but this seems rare. Having to restart the app to see what my alliance says is constant, however, and very frustrating. I'm running it on a droid mini with android 4.4. Have yet to see anyone else mention this so I figured I'd put it out there
