Patch/Hulk/Punisher is the fastest 3* comp. You use Hulk to get the red/green trigger Anger and when guys get low Punisher can finish them off.
I prefer Psylocke in place of Punisher to get the attack tile out ASAP.
  • I also tend to play in an atypical matter. Instead of shields I start the PvP with 6h to go (sometimes) and play for 3h straight to get to 1000 with no shields (sometimes). It sometimes cost 100 to 200 hp in Boosts. Or it sometimes costs a 3h shield to get healthpack.png and try again. If I don't care about the placement reward I will often get to 1000 and not shield, dropping to about 700 and maybe getting top 25 maybe not. Not great for season score but cheap for 4*s.

Finding 3-star teams that can dispatch X-Force/Thor teams fast enough for hopping has been my greatest difficulty. I've only been able to hit 1000 points one time. Usually, I have a hard time getting much more than 800 points. That's when attacks become relentless for me, forcing a shield. From there, I can find valuable opponents for hops, but by the time I've taken them down, I have 2 or 3 attacks and come out with less points than I started with.

    Do you run Patch/Hulk?

How many nodes do you attempt between shields?

I only attempt 2 matches per hop (3 if I really need the points, and willing to take the risk) and always fully boosted. I actually think I cheesed my way to 1000 by using WHALES a couple times.

I actually haven't tried Patch/Hulk yet but considering it for Fist Bump after reading this.
On the topic of Iron fist, I always wondered if scoring high is made easier or harder in a character's debut featured. It 's easer to take down teams with low-leveled featureds, but that also means you're probably using a low-leveled featured (who is taking up space) as well.

With Hulk/Patch, you frequently take the loaner, since you want Hulk to tank as many colors as possible, so it is only an advantage.
  • The most effective way to complete a 4* is save up 2500 HP (or more) because if we're talking about completing Thor or X Force, it is indeed a 'got to have X Force/Thor to get X Force/Thor' issue. Sure, you can do clever things with shield hopping but if you could reliably do it, you wouldn't be asking this question in the first place, and of course then there's the fact that it can take a long time before the covers you need are even available given they're rotated through every character/color combination, so even if you can always hit 1000 it'd take several months to complete an X Force or Thor from scratch. You can accumulate a lot of HP by just shielding less (or not at all) on events that don't matter (which should be most of them if you're trying to transition to 4*) and don't waste HP on roster slots when you can instead drop a 1/2 you'll never use. If you're not a collector, you most certainly don't need to keep a spot for someone like Beast. If he's going to featured in the next PvE event, he'll always be offered in the event before and you better be able to make at least T150 if you're serious about transitioning to 4*.

I know several people who swear by Patch/Hulk as THE 4*-less shield hop team.

I'm keeping Beast. They'll probably buff him in few years or so.

The most COST effective way is most certainly not spending thousands of spideycoin.png per cover. C'mon Phantron, you can not be this jaded. I think perhaps you forget what it was like to not have XF on your roster.

It is possible to hit 1000 with 3*s. It was possible to get to 1300 as well. The new shield hop dynamic does pose difficulties with shield hopping. You can either start with about 24 hours to go and then go 3-8-8-3 to get from about 800 to 1000 or you can join with like 10h to go, fight through the hits and climb your score using 3h sheild to recharge healthpack.png . Granted the second method works better with XF/Thor already on your team but it's still a possibility.

Also now with DDQ, not keeping Beast is like asking to lose 2000 iso.

Interesting how the general consensus is to go straight for X-Force. It certainly makes sense in the wider perspective. I might have to reconsider levelling Hulk then. It's going to cost me 7500HP to get X-Force to 2/5/1, plus iso to level him. It'd cost me 2500HP to get Hulk to 5/3/5, plus iso to level him. I guess that HP and iso are better spent on X-Force than Hulk.

Why do people keep on try to justify that there's a stupidity tax in this game for being a collector? D3 pretty much flat out says they don't think the roster slot is a problem becase your own problem for collecting characters that have no purpose. I pay the tax too but I don't pretend Beast is going to totally justify that 750 HP it took in roster slot because every month I get 2000 more iso on a daily event. If you want to waste your HP collecting useless characters go for it. I do that myself, but that doesn't mean it's the right thing to do. Your 3rd page of characters (14 slots) is likely to cost you at least 5000 HP and I see plenty of people with weak roster that have that many pages. For 5000 HP you can take an unplayable 3/3/3 X Force to a 3/5/3 where he's certainly at least a top tier 3* at that point. Do people value their time as so worthless that you don't care it takes you months before you can remotely enjoy the game? I mean from what I get a lot of people seems to think this game is pretty dumb when you get ran over by X Force/Thor, which is not necessarily a wrong statement, and all the comments I see are like, "Don't worry just keep getting ran over for 5 months since that's how much time it'd take before enough X Force covers would be rotated in 1000 PvP threshold and then it'll all be better". Seems to me that is a statement spoken by someone who obviously has no idea what it's like to be without X Force. Having some kind of rite of initiation doesn't work for MMORPG ever since WoW came out and hasn't worked for anything else in a long time. I don't need a game that's unplayable for 5 months just because it might get better, especially not when there's a way to drastically cut down that time without even spending money. Now if someone doesn't mind getting ran over in PvP sure you can take the time and keep your useless characters that will never amount to anything, but I don't see how you can possibly advice the generic "this game isn't enjoyable without X Force" guys, which are usually the guys asking how to get X Force, and tell them just keep wasting HP on useless stuff while they continue to not enjoy the game.

I do hate to spend all that HP on xforce (and I am sure I will pull a cover of his immediately afterwards).

On the other hand, my HP pile has grown pretty consistently over the last several months (my average income outstrips shield costs, so it's only roster slots that are really taxing my HP income, and I still have a few 2*s and duplicate 3*s that I could stand to lose), so maybe maxing xforce is a good way to spend the capital that I have already earned in game.

Am I right to assume that 3/5/3 is preferable to 4/4/3 for an xforce build?

haven't read the whole thread yet, so not sure if this was chimed in on, but IMO on offense that 5th black really is something incredible, although at 4 green starts to become useful. As an attacker I don't care if you are 3/5/3 or 4/4/3 I won't skip you either way. An under covered xforce is a tasty treat. If you are 3/5/3 I will make sure to deny you black, if you are 4/4/3 I'm not too worried about much.

I don't know about that. Hulk is pretty useful deterant. If it's going to cost you 7500 HP plus iso to get xforce to 2/5/1 he's still not useful at all and that's a heap of loot to spend on a nearly functional charecter. I'd say use a leveled Hulk to get xforce covers, but that's just me. A 2/5/1 xforce won't do anything for you other than give you a false sense of security.

It might make it quicker for you to hop near the top if you are always boosting black, but if you are getting above 600 pts that xforce is apitizer for a real one. I'd be clicking that fight button as fast as possible if I saw you.

I would hate this game if I only played xforce / GT. In fact, I'd probably quit becuase I wouldn't see the point, or the fun. I love taking out a team of low level rag tag misfits and plugging away. And for PvE I believe there is a consensus that using more charecters and lower level ones keeps scaling down.

If you use xforce for every battle, I feel bad for you but you seem to really be attached to him...lol.
