    Thanks! The bigger picture is: Season 1 = 100th by the skin of our teeth (17 points...), Season 2 - 95th after one guy left on the very last day, Season 3 - 95th after we were 85th with about 10h before the deadline. We're not that burned out yet, though icon_e_smile.gif

    First, thanks for collecting and cumulating these results.

    There are a couple of things I find interesting. One is that the scores came back up in Season 3 - I wouldn't have predicted that, I thought we would be flat or slightly down from Season 2. Another is the fact that the gap between top and bottom (in the top 100 is growing). I did a quick calculation of (1-5 alliance scores) / (96-100 alliance scores) and got the following:

    Season 1: 1.52
    Season 2: 1.54
    Season 3: 1.74

    Why do I think this is interesting? I think it reflects an increasing power gap between the very top alliances and the "middle class" alliances. Now any assignment of cause of this is speculation, but I'd be tempted to think that several things are at work here, including coordinated shield hopping and a highly broken character (Sentry) who is, as yet, not possible to have optimally covered without substantial luck (or more likely, spending HP). In both cases, these could be termed P2W effects.

    I think Nick Fury represents an additional potential P2W vector, and I'd bet that the ratio increases even more in Season 4. If there is one.

    I was tempted to point out that scores are back up because seasons 1 and 3 had 12 events, while season 2 only had 11, but then I looked into it a bit further and I think there's something more interesting going on here. Take a look at the list of rewards from season 2, as compared to season 3:

    Season 2: Daken (twice), Psylocke, Magneto (twice), Patch (twice), BP, Sentry, Thor, IM40
    Season 3: Storm, Spidey, Torch, BWGS, Daredevil, Punisher, Doom, She-Hulk, Loki, Falcon, Ragnarok, IM40

    And the rewards for PvE events:

    Season 2: Sentry, BP, (whatever TaT was)
    Season 3: IM40, She-Hulk, Sentry, 2* Torch

    Seems like the combination of people going all-out in season 1 (when seasons were new) and the constant stream of highly desirable rewards burned people out in season 2, and/or people had to choose between playing PvE and PvP, and the people who played both got hit a lot more in PvP since a lot of people were trying to top rewards.

    As for the gap between top 5 and top 100, P2W is very possibly a factor, but another possibility is that there are fewer high-scoring players and/or that the top players tend to be migrating towards a smaller number of alliances.

    TaT was likely Mororo, given that she was newly added during that season.

    Ah yes, thanks! That's right, since TaT ran at the end of Season 2 and the Cat-5 PvP was the second of season 3, so the timing works out. Also fits with the theory -- we didn't know Storm's red didn't reduce AP until after the PvE, so as I recall people went pretty hard after those Storm covers.

    You might be thinking of season 1, as season 2 didn't run Krakadoom at all, nor did it feature any Ragnarok rewards.

    Season 2 featured characters: Psylocke, IM40, Daken, Psylocke again, Sentry, Patch, BP, Sentry again, Magneto, Patch again, Thor.

    Definitely more variety in season 3, though -- no repeats in either reward or featured character.
