Question of strike tiles and shield tiles and timing

When are the numbers applied? If I match 3 with a enemy shield is the damage still lowered? Like wise if I match my own strike tile do I get the bonus or in each case is the tile lost and the bonuses ignored?

    The amount applies on the match, but not anything after it. For example let's say you match something that turns into 2 match 3s, and it's RRR (with your strike tiles) and GGG (with enemy protect tiles). If the RRR is matched first (by moving the R tile into the match), then the RRR has both strike and protect values applied to it, but the GGG will only have the protect values applied to it. If you do it the other way around, the GGG will have both values applied to it, but the RRR will only have the strike tiles applied to it.
