When are you placed in a bracket?

Something I always wondered about I don't remember reading anywhere (sorry if it has been mentioned before)

When does bracket placement actually occur? Is it when you open the PvP, view a pin/node or actually participate in the fight?

    It occurs when you participate in a fight I'm not sure if you are placed when the fight begins or ends though.

    It used to be when you began the fight. But with the new "sharding" of brackets, who knows.
    If you lost the fight you were still in whatever bracket was currently filling up. You just had 0 pts.
