So what does everyone think of the new 5*?

Is he worth pulling for when he shows up in LLs?

    He's got a sword.

    I will be pulling for CIIM because he's kind of cool and can chain hits really well, etc. At some point (maybe right away) I might stop pulling in the last month for Sword Master because I cannot perceive of any real use for him.

    I had a dream about him last night where he was on a cooking show and he had to do a cutting up vegetables challenge and he failed, so based on that I assume my 12 cover version is basically terrible.

    He ignores protect tiles, but there is no protect tile meta. I guess I see a BRB+Polaris every now and then, but eh.

    His red is cheap.

    I refuse to deal with locked tiles, and his are random and require you fire an active power.

    He's a champ and forget for me.

    He's not bad but he doesn't do anything busted enough to put him in the "usable unboosted" tier.

    It's an open question as to whether he's usable when boosted. I think he's in the lower half of that tier if so, there are a lot of boosted guys I'd use before him.

    That's wild because I had a similar dream, only he dazzled the judges with a Mediterranean poached salmon and raspberry reduction...

    Got him at 452 & maintain my original interpretation of his lock tiles holding him back. You only get credit for unlocking them with matches, not destruction, and even then they don't add enough damage to his black to make much of a difference.

    I'm still not sure how his red is supposed to work re supernatural damage.

    I searched under the supernatural affiliation, and there isn't any meta relevant characters for him to slice through, beyond perhaps 5* Agatha, Scarlet Witch, Mephisto or SoV Deadpool?

    Baby champed mine and tried to see if I can find a team for him and I really haven’t.

    His red does meh damage but I still haven’t found a supernatural enemy to see how the extra damage is applied or even if it’s extra.

    The purple and black are synergistic but only with themselves as the purple makes “puzzle boxes” and not “lock tiles”. So there’s no other character that can put other ones on the field. The “puzzle boxes” also…..

    1) can only be matched by your team
    2) destruction doesn’t count
    3 are placed completely randomly on the board.

    Having another character with Atlas Agent affiliation makes more puzzle boxes but that’s it. Those with that affiliation are TAH, Silk, Luna Snow, and Namora. Even ascended, that’s a pretty **** lot.

    I don’t have a lot of positive things to say about Swordmaster right now. But I’m willing to be surprised by someone else’s opinion on him.

    I much prefer NS black which sends enemy airborne AND generates AP. If the AP is the right color for SC, you'll get winfinite AND true heal. :p

    Maybe I'm just dumb but it took me forever to figure out who NS was!

    In case anyone else is similarly dumb, NS=Northstar, and yes he's really strong and really fun.

    Swordmaster isn't any more fun champed but this is a record in terms of fast champing a 5 for me. Just too bad that even boosted he isn't pulling up any trees. Oh well. Maybe when he gets rebalanced they can give him a total make over. He could be a Stickmaster or an Axemaster or stick with the puzzling theme and call him Puzzlemaster! He could be a regular in Puzzle Gauntlet!

    He's just no where near what the meta is at the moment. He's another one of those play for fun, not for speed characters.

    I think the Supernatural thing really holds him back. I just tested it against Mindless Ones and it did absolutely nothing, but it has me asking for the first time if minions have affiliations in the first place?

    Has anyone filled the entire board with locked tiles yet with him and Luna Snow (she qualifies as one of the characters who gives him extra locked). Between them they have 3 active powers that will lock tiles and I calculated you can fire his 4x and lock 40+ if you have Luna and another team mate who increases his locked tiles. Then she should be able to fire her powers and lock the remaining 24.

    Love to see a screen shot and would be interesting to see what happens when it's all locked.
