May we just, not? (Trigger warning)

Hint : not Squabby. Not even H Grinder as much as the double Nazi dog whistle of 14 ("the 14 words" and the eighth letter of the alphabet twice, 88 for HH, or He.l H.tler)
This is not an accident. This is not a joke. This is hate for their enemies, and spreading fear to their would be victims. Please stop this.

I let it go, thinking it would be dealt with. There they were again. I mentioned it to my faction, and let it go again. There they were still. I let it go again, and here they are back again. Enough.

We need a feature to force them to rename their nickname after this warning.

That is, give them a warning and enable the feature to immediately rename the new nickname according to the rules.

@Magic:PQ Support Team can you please explain why usernames with 1488 (and **** for that matter) are even allowed in the game? These sorts of things are super-easy to filter out when players input their usernames and it's insane that the game allows them in the first place.

It's not an edgy joke and it does drive people away from the game.

Oh! I'm not familiar with that particular white-nationialist dog whistle. Which persecuted group of minorities does it target?

Isn't that kind of the issue? You can't know all of them. I don't think trying to ban stuff like this leads anywhere - there will always be the next slur, the next meme. And if you do try to do that, people will inevitably get caught in the crossfire.

That's a bit nihilistic, isn't it? Everything is always evolving so there's no point in doing anything?

Changing a username (or coalition name) isn't some herculean endeavor and updating content filters isn't oppressively difficult. I think it is well worth it to make the game more welcoming--there are plenty of things that are harder to fix that drive people away, it's a shame to not address the easy ones.

The slippery-slope argument doesn't work here - it's not even a hard line to draw to say "no Nazi references" and move on. Are you saying that because a future speculative case may not be cut-and-dried, that action shouldn't be taken on a known, existing concern? That's even leaving aside the false equivalency of actual Nazi/white supremacist tropes vs squint-to-see-it political statements.

If you see an 8647 username, post it/report it/whatever, and make that argument why that's also bad. But don't hand-wave away something that exists right in front of you. This is a niche (read: not super-popular) mobile gem-match game, let's not pretend this some huge moral quandary with far-reaching implications.

    Hey, folks!

Thank you for bringing this up.
We are currently looking up improving the username filter. Also, from our partial investigations, problems like the ones mentioned above are isolated and action has been taken.
For future issues, you can open a ticket with our Customer Support, so as not to expose the whole community to sensitive content (thank you for the TA in the title, btw!). CS analyses each case and takes action if needed.

I am not saying that we should not address the obvious cases. What I am saying is that I think it is better to err on the side of less restrictions, because
    a) the people who want to be **** will always find a way
    b) It is not worth it to potentially target those, who had no bad intentions. What is a slur or an insult in one language might be regular word in other language.

You ban 1488 and the guy will use 1-4-8-8. You ban that, and its gonna be one4eight8. And what are you going to do when it goes to 1188? I don't see a point in playing whac-a-mole with internet trolls. Or letting them get under your skin for that matter.
I am not saying that no action should be taken, but I don't think a blanket ban on anything beyond the most obvious cases is a good move.

edit: Lol, a word got turned into stars. That is kind of exactly what I am talking about - I see nothing wrong with that word. It is an insult in most contexts, sure, but a mild one at best. I would never classify that as problematic to use in any conversation or think twice about it. Not to mention that there are contexts, in which it is not in fact an insult. Should I be persecuted for using it then?

The filters on the forum are much more robust than the ones in-game lol
