Polaris Nerf

You centered your roster around one character.
You choose that character because they were more effective than others.
You just outlined exactly why she was nerfed.
The reality is that you helped lead to her being nerfed.
But it's not even a bad nerf. She is completely usable on every team she was usable on before.

I just don't understand complaining about this.
There are plenty of other valid complaints.

I hope you're able to view the situation grin different perspectives, learn from it, and one day maybe even be happy she wasn't nerfed into the ground.

I have to correct my previous statement. The Devs managed to break the game by nerfing Polaris pretty badly and not doing something similar to the PvE opposition. There are certain nodes where I'm facing Level 645 characters even in SCL8 and have yet to find a way to beat them. And that's despite having every 5* in the game champed (just nowhere near 550). They know how badly they reduced PvE damage better than anyone. Be it cut in half or divided by three or something like that, but the opposition received no such nerf and that's really making me wonder about the viability of this game. If they launch a pre-nerf insanely hard Boss-event after the Polaris-nerf, then I'll have the answer I'm looking for.

I don't have any 550's but have been able to beat everything in SCL10 so far, 5* Kingpin was very tough and there were some hard matches in current one too but it is mostly 2 or 3 nodes at worst. If you have all 5s champed then you should have the 4 boosted plus Zemo as essential for this current one, no? Not saying it is the best boost week but Peggy and Rescue are both a bit better now (can't say much for the shark). Kang still laughs at the CN.

5* kingpin made me swap zemo for 1* black widow. I put the power stone on widow, free fire of 5 turn stun slowed kingpin down plenty for me.

I think it's an interesting dilemma. The fact that people need to change up their teams based on their opponents is, in my view, how the game should be.

I never chucked my eggs in one basket, but I am guilty of using something that works repeatedly, over and over, and an ascended set of Polaris/R4G/4Juggs was certainly effective in PvE under most circumstances. It was familiar and easy and I didn't have to think much. I did switch it up when facing obvious problems for the team, but it was exception rather than the rule.

PvP was different - I'd have to think about a team to beat the opponents and that was fun. Until the same teams kept popping up and that was less fun.

I think the rebalance is a good thing. I've used Polaris since and she's not unrecognizable but it's slightly slower. There are better 5☆ options, but there should be - that's why they are 5☆s.

Just switch Polaris for a GotG, still works fine.

I guess I'm just confused by this, legitimately. All the rewards they give out are either characters or resources to level up characters. There are like 500 characters or something now! Why would you want to use the same stuff all the time?

It would make more a lot more sense to me if this was a common attitude among very casual players, but these are hardcore players who are super invested in the game! There's a guy here who has all the 5* championed and he was using Polaris for everything!

What's the point of grinding for characters that you'll never use to play the game? Why would you even want them?

I guess. It's just so weird to me.

Maybe the devs could save money by not making the new characters playable at all -- they'd just be covers that you can recruit and level up and look at on your roster page, with no actual powers.

c'mon now, only 380something characters LOL

More seriously, the devs committed a terrible error ... the most delicate situation a gacha games has to handle is character rebalancing, and specifically nerfing. You're changing something people feel they own. As erroneous as those feelings are (we don't own %#@& all!), they are real, in player's heads, and they color their relationship with the game.

Screwing up and _over_nerfing, no matter how temporary, and even tho it was in error, is devastating. We can see how the people who are tuned in react ... imagine how the loads of players not following the forum, etc, perceived this .... how about all the players around the world speaking languages other than English.

THis nerf barely affects me ... I only use her as a tile-spamming quest utility, but even I say Fuhgawdssake, if can't be bother to test anything else, test nerfs.

Oh no, I get being upset about a nerf. We can argue about whether this is an overnerf or not (honestly no idea, I only use characters when they're boosted).

What I don't get are the motivations of players who used Polaris for everything/in every event before this nerf, and who wanted to continue doing so forever.

It sounds like there were players using her exclusively -- every event, every fight, every day for years. Someone who's played probably tens of thousands of fights with her would be much more sensitive to changes.

When I said "over"nerf, I intended to refer specifically to how they broke her for several days, then fixed her up. Made nerf look much more negative.

The "real" nerf, postfix, seems reasonable, even gentle, to me.

I don’t think she was over-nerfed but when I’m pulling her out for a BRB-Pol make-blue match you can definitely sense the difference between 2 and the old 3 tile generation when matching specials.

I notice the start of turn tick of damage the most. Usually you generate so many SAPs from matching them that after 4-5 turns you've flooded the board unless you get an unlucky board.
