Polaris Nerf

I am dismayed at the level of support for nerfing Polaris. I have spent the greater part of the last three years focusing on levelling Polaris. She is the current cornerstone of my teams. I pair her with 4* Rocket/Groot (now ascended) and either 5* Kitty Pryde or 5* Kamala, and the team is very strong. I needed such a strong team in the ridiculously hard boss event recently scheduled. In PVP I automatically skip any team that has Chasm in it, because he prevent RG's strike tiles from forming. I also skip several other 5*'s, because they are very dangerous for Polaris. She is hardly invincible.
I would never have ascended and levelled Polaris (I currently have her at 528) if I would have known that you would have gutted her of her main strength (cascading strike tile production). You offer absolutely no compensation at all! You steal a favorite character of many from being the strongest and offer no ability to give those levels to another character, say. At 78x4 covers, I figure you owe me 312 4* covers of my choice. Your normal compensation would be a joke in this case. I thought you guys were beyond nerfing (the correct solution is to create lots of characters that can handle and/or diminish what she can do, NOT nerf her). Heck, you could even rebalance/change existing characters so they can handle her. You hadn't nerfed a majorly favorite character in my recollection since 5* Old Man Logan.
Polaris was the only reason I could keep up with the cash cows in pve. Now I will fall much further behind, because I cannot possibly do nodes as fast as a 550 team. So there are further covers I will not be able to earn because of Polaris being nerfed.
I was not happy with the introduction of 6* characters, but now that you have destroyed my favorite character, I am not sure I will be playing this game anymore. Nerfing favorite characters after people have invested so much time into them is plain and simple theft. You should have learned your lesson from Old Man Logan. You don't seem to learn from your mistakes.

Speaking of learning from your lessons... after old man logan, gambit, chasm, bishop, worthy cap, etc. etc. You would think players would learn their lesson about putting all of their eggs in one basket.
You made your entire strategy revolve around one character and time and time again they have demonstrated that this is a terrible idea.
I don't even think Polaris is unusable after her nerf either. You can probably still use those teams with her, just not to the ridiculously incredible offensive level you could before. And I say this as a player that made Polaris his first 550 4a5.

Yeah, sorry OP but I agree with BriMan2222.
You chose to invest in Polaris to the point where you could ascend her with no back-up plan. It was screamingly obvious that at some point she would get nerfed. You talk about "theft" but you have had use of her for 5 years and in that time she has no doubt helped you win things you couldn't have otherwise (well unless you built out other characters to rely on). Ascension is a gamble anyway.
I haven't seen any talk of compensation for players but maybe they will? I guess we wait and see.

Here's my consternation about your consternation. The game is called MARVEL PUZZLE QUEST, not POLARIS PUZZLE QUEST. I hope I've clarified things. Best regards, a player with a realistic view. Traduzido p/ PT: Aqui vai a minha consternação de sua consternação. O jogo se chama MARVEL PUZZLE QUEST, e não POLARIS PUZZLE QUEST. Espero ter esclarecido. Att. um jogador com visão realista.

Now, honestly, I don't think it's such a bad thing, since it hasn't become obsolete. I believe the devs just want the best for everyone and, furthermore, to make the game (including PVP) more varied and not more of the same. For example, most meta teams currently have Polaris in their composition; this nerf will force players to use more varied strategies. We don't need to crucify the devs.

I am fine with the nerf myself, though I do understand the sentiment of the OP. I really just wish they would consider just gating some characters off from PvP and see how things go from there.

I side more with the OP, although I am not looking to bludgeon the devs or anyone else. Unless you have lots of time and money, focusing on a character or a select few helps. I can’t focus on 400 characters. I try, but it does not get me too far. My source of frustration is that they waited so long to do something. People who invested more in her have a right to be frustrated. People who have lots of characters at 500+ don’t feel the sting so much.

Okay, so I just ran her with rocket to complete the make special tiles quest and I have to say that it looks like reports of her death have been greatly exaggerated. I used a purple ap support and boosts and fire her purple immediately to get her into special tile mode.
She's not quite as spammy as before, but she still makes plenty and different types of tiles count individually. So if you match a shield tile and strike tile in one match, she makes 2 more shields and 2 more protects and does the hits of damage.
Her blue is unchanged and still great. So basically, I lost the additional extra beginning of turn hit and she can't spam to infinity, but she still spams plenty. Overall I think this a good balance.

I maxed a toon and it got nerfed. No compensation. More of a buyer beware email. I didn't have 3 years either. The character died much quicker.

How could anybody have forseen this?!? Buyer beware!

For your information, I have every single character rostered except the 6* and the newest 5*. I have every single 5* champed except five of them. I have multiple 4* ascended. I have every 4* champed except four of the most recent. I have most of the 3* ascended into 4* land. So no, I did not put all my eggs in one basket. But I only favorited Polaris in 4* land, which I would not have done, if I had known she was going to be nerfed. I would have gone with Chavez or Rogue.

If this is the first time you've been caught out by a nerf, I do sympathize. In 2014, I had just completed Ragnarok and the next day he was nerfed into oblivion (with no warning or communication or anything, he just changed randomly in game). It was very demoralizing.
But if you've been around awhile, you should know by now that anybody can catch a nerf at any time. Don't make any character the "centerpiece" of your team. You have tons of other strong characters, try them out!
And for what it's worth, you are not meant to keep up with the "cash cows," and the fact that you ever were is a massive problem for the game (that they have now solved).

I only had your initial post to go off of and the way you framed it made it sound like you put everything into Polaris and every strategy you have revolves around her. If you have a robust roster, then good you don't need her. More good news, she's still perfectly usable after her nerf, just not OP anymore.
Hopefully the other nerfs will be like this and leave these characters in a position where they're still great when boosted and have uses.

She's far from unusable after the nerf. Though for me It just means back to playing SCL8. OP Ascended Polaris was essential to getting through some of the ridiculously hard SCL10 nodes. It was fun while it lasted, but that's over now. Next the Devs will be complaining again that they need to get more players into SCL 10.

Well, to me, Polaris is still somewhat usable. Now let's see how the dev handles CheapThor and SC nerfs...

I have to correct my previous statement. The Devs managed to break the game by nerfing Polaris pretty badly and not doing something similar to the PvE opposition. There are certain nodes where I'm facing Level 645 characters even in SCL8 and have yet to find a way to beat them. And that's despite having every 5* in the game champed (just nowhere near 550). They know how badly they reduced PvE damage better than anyone. Be it cut in half or divided by three or something like that, but the opposition received no such nerf and that's really making me wonder about the viability of this game. If they launch a pre-nerf insanely hard Boss-event after the Polaris-nerf, then I'll have the answer I'm looking for.

It sounds like you were relying on Polaris for everything -- try some different characters. You built that roster for a reason!

I'm currently running 5* Agatha/5* Zemo/3a5 IM40 in oss. On the required nodes its Agatha/req/Zemo. Slow but haven't had any issues on the new cl10.

If you have all 5s champed then you should have the 4 boosted plus Zemo as essential for this current one, no? Not saying it is the best boost week but Peggy and Rescue are both a bit better now (can't say much for the shark). Kang still laughs at the CN.

Honestly MThor, (buffed)WorthyPeg and Nova(Herald) absolutely slay everything on pick 3 nodes.
FYI their level range is anything from baby champ to ~490, so it’s absolutely doable.
If/when they nerf MThor I’ll switch to another team with good synergy.2 -
It's been 2yrs since I retired but when I returned from the previous Retirement, I remember immediately jumping into a battle with Polaris with my previous duo of Kitty and Grocket..nand I got destroyed real quick. However, once I got my own and a few other characters, the game was fine. She was easy to dispose of as long as you targeted her early.
Where she shined for me is PVE to allow me to compete in SCL10 and that's likely the reason she was nerfed. It's not a coincidence that these nerfs are happening alongside the rollout of 6* and new SCL. They don't want us punching above our weight and getting to 6* land too early. Whales need to whale for the revenue. This move is business, nothing personal to the players even though it feels like it.
With that said.. any thoughts I had of returning again ain't going to happen. It sounds like they'll need all the characters I was utilizing for PVE.
