Follow the leader — into midsummer rivalry

In Lorwyn, some creatures rise above the rest, demanding the strength of another to fuel their own. These champions lead through sacrifice.
Leader is a returning mechanic.
As a creature with Leader enters the battlefield, it exiles all tokens you control with any of its given subtypes and is reinforced for each token and token reinforcement it exiled. If a token with any of the given subtypes would enter the battlefield under your control, this creature is reinforced instead.

Leader is one of my favorite mechanics! Glad to see it make a comeback, and with a pretty good card!

Are we not getting the Through The Omenpaths version of Spider-Man then?

How many faerie token generators do you think they’ll give us?
Will this just be another Biogenic Ooze? You know, the leader they forgot to actually make tokens for until after it had left standard?

Leader has always been a mechanic that was cool to have and powerful with surrounding support. I'm excited to see what is in store for us.

I’m glad leader is coming back, though since it’s Lorwyn, the most likely useful leaders are Elves and Goblins

There are fairies generators in standard currently

Yes, two in Foundations (one of which is a masterpiece—easy to acquire, no doubt!) and two in Wilds of Eldraine. So this is already better than Biogenic Ooze… but that’s a pretty low bar, isn’t it?

So having four token generators before the actual set drops seems reasonable to me.
These comments are also peculiar since Lorwyn is known as a tribal set (including faeries!), which Ravnica was not. It's more like thoughtlessly musing if there would be dragon tokens in Tarkir.

If you keep reading a little bit further in the comment you so helpfully linked, you’ll find the next paragraph reads “This is not to say that there aren't a large number of players who don't have access to the majority of the cards” so it does seem that some players have an easier time collecting masterpieces than others (although I’ll be the first to acknowledge they they earn those resources)
As for dragon tokens in Tarkir, it’s funny you mention that! While several cards do specifically refer to “non-token dragon creatures” there aren’t any cards that generate dragon tokens in that set… unless I’m overlooking something?

You are 100% correct. There is only one dragon token creator in Tarkir (Dragonback Assault) and it requires a very niche outcome to create. There are several more in other sets (2 Ravnica, 2 Foundations, 1 Aetherdrift, 1 OTJ), but I was wrong about the Tarkir set and stand completely corrected.
I do still think it's wiser to wait for the set to be released before raising the comment, as it was Oktagon responsible for the Ooze issue and not Webcore. Besides The Ancient One (LCI MP), Webcore hasn't produced any leader creatures to judge against.

This forum is for people expressing their (wrong
) opinions! But I'd rather hold Webcore responsible for things they do, like making Station an utterly unusable mechanic, than preemptively about things other developers have done. If it turns out there are no faerie token generators in what should be a tribal set featuring token Leaders, I'll be the first to agree with you on that front, right here in this thread.
