I don’t understand the point of Meltstriders Gear

I’m playing with unmastered commons during the commoners cup event so I’m looking more closely at cards I might otherwise scroll past.

Meltstriders Gear was written by someone who doesn’t understand how the game works and it made it all the way through the design process and into production without anyone at webcore saying “this makes no sense.”

This is a support card. Fine. It’s an artifact equipment. So far, so good! It does not have flash—I swear this detail is important!

It says:

At the beginning of your turn: your first creature gets +2/+2 and gains reach until the end of turn.

Reach is an evergreen that allows creatures to block attacking creatures. My opponent’s creatures never attack on my turn. Why on earth would I care whether or not my creature has reach on a turn that it cannot block?

Am I missing something?

Just needs to become “until the end of your next turn”.

Sure! I’d even settle for the beginning of the next turn, honestly. As long as the reach persists through my opponent’s next attack phase.

What do you think @Magic:PQ Support Team is this a reasonable change to request from the team?
