Points in pvp...

And if the math is so simple - compare level of both players and get number of points from an array of values - or calculate it - how they could break it?Because, right now, it looks like it's completely random?!?!
Just to clarify for other readers who might freak out.
the point values for each fight have always been calculated and awarded correctly.
The OP issue is related to how the gaming is choosing his opponents.

you can look on the leaderboard to "verify" that the match points are calculating correctly. (i.e. you see their score, you know your score. you can calculate the value of winning or losing that specific match)I can see only 20 people around me... Unless there is a bigger leader board somewhere?

There is actually. If you click on the alliance leaderboard you can see the 20 alliances around your alliance score and the top 20 alliances scores, that's a potential 800 or so player scores.

This particular player (not the OP) seems to be assuming that points are calculated based on how strong the enemy's team is. That's not a crazy assumption -- it would actually make sense, and possibly make more sense than how it actually works. But it's not how it actually works and it never was.

But how can I check a SPECIFIC player - that I would be playing against?
And you mean max 380? 19 alliances around me * 20 players max?

this is where you use the social tools that have been developed in line to monitor and track your opponents. most of the vets don't care about specific match points, but you can be confident that players who are in contention for various season placements are being fully monitored and tracked by other players/alliances.
this is what the vets mean by the deeper social metagame. If you need information on a specific opponents you'll need to tap into the established line social networking.

You only need to check players if you don't trust the game to calculate points correctly...he was suggesting you do that as a way for verify that it's working as it should be.
Personally, if I want to know how many points another player has, I'll look at how many points the game is giving me for beating them.

Sure. Post which pvp slice you play the most often. You'll want to join the corresponding Line rooms. Normally, your alliance commander should be providing assisntance. If not, you want to join and alliance that can get you into the appropriate line rooms.
Remember, this is a social construct, so a silent alliance/player is useless if they don't commuincate. In any case your looking to find the players who actually play in your event/shard. Usually this is called the Big Room or along those lines.
Normally, when we see these questions, its from players who haven't been connected to the higher level "associations" that focused on pvp or pve play and all the related subgroups.
Check in with your Alliance commander for advice on interacting with these "line community groups" If your the alliance commander, you should be looking to "affiliate" with one of the other big alliance families. There are many loosely affiliated alliances that make up "families" that can provide "knowledge base" on these pvp technical discussions.
I'm only being vague on the pathway because there are many alternate routes including reddit and or FB groups that can all address these functions. So you don't have to use messaging apps to learn to play the meta game. and I'm not necessarily say you have to communicate to community with one app or another. there are many ways to do this and not run afoul of international treaty bans and border shutdowns.
The main point is that you or your alliance commander needs to be interfacing with your peer players or alliances so that you can have access to the latest team construction tacitics. pve playthrough orders. pvp play tactics etc. These issues are all commonly discussed by alliance members and not just in the big whale familes.

Or you could just win the match.

19 alliances around you and the top 20 alliances, unless your alliance is in the top 20.

This seems like overkill if all you want to do is validate that the game is calculating points correctly.
Like yeah, absolutely go join a room if you want to learn about how PvP actually works, how to play it like the vets do, how to earn placement, etc. But this started out as looking for information on how points work, and you don't need a room for that.

And, this might just be me, PVP rewards aren't worth THAT much to really care if points are +/- 25%. If something is calculated wrong against me I imagine that the appropriate number of times something is calculated for me.

at a technical level, the game looks at timestamps when it gets the various win loss messages. This just means, any match value you see before you "actually" win is a prematch estimate. The actual calculations for points won or lost is assessed at match conclusion (i.e. when you win not when you start).
keep in mind this scenario. you que someone while your shielded. you don't intend to hit this que for another 3hrs when its convenient for you to play. in those intervening 3hrs the player shield drops and losses 400 points. consider the alternative. the player goes on a 1000 point wave train hop. For these and other reasons, the actual point change is based on when the match is completed not when you saw the que or even began the match.

That's not what this guy is up to though. It's absolutely a thing and it's certainly a thing that matters to some of us, but he doesn't understand how the game is calculating points at all. You told him to check the leaderboard against the points chart in this thread so he can verify it's doing what it's supposed to do, and he wants to know how he can verify it against players who aren't on his leaderboard.

I do need to bring attention to "international treaty bans" and "border shutdowns" as the nerdiest way possible to describe anything associated with this game. Is there an MPQ dictionary out there somewhere? Even now somebody could be in a chatroom "swinging the weasel" when they should have been "rubbing the ferret" and not knowing it. This information could save lives!

Yeah but the OP is British judging by his username?!!?! In which case he will definitely need to learn how to "butter the crumpet".
