Is Joining Random Alliance Broken?

@S0kun - Directing this to you since you might be able to find out the answer.

3 boss events ago, I did my usual kicking out of inactive members of my casual alliance and that put us down to 17/20 spots. Normally during the running of a boss event (the 4 days) we'd get 2-3 spots filled up getting us back to 20 members (or at worst within a couple of days of the boss event ending) with a mix of new players and some mid tier players (3 star/early 4 star).

Yet today as we start another boss event my alliance still only has 17/20 members in it. Not one new person has been assigned to my alliance (and I have some more inactive members I'd like to remove but don't dare since we can't fill now).

Is the Joining Random Alliance feature broken in Unity (3 boss events ago is roughly the time Unity was pushed to all platforms) in some manner or is it worse, there just aren't many new players and lots of older players have gone inactive (I doubt you'll be allowed to answer that)?

KGB

P.S. I'd like not to have to leave my alliance but only 7 of the 17 have been active at all in the last 2 months so we barely have enough to make personal progression and make round 5 which is disheartening.

My gut says that the number of players who are floating around and looking for alliances has dropped substantially.

Because there are fewer players, and fewer bracket flips.

Also - if I were looking for an alliance and I had any concept at all of what kind I was looking for (aka one where most of the members are active) I sure wouldn’t join one where only 7 had been active in the last 2 months. I want that iso! Well, I did. I do want active players to help me finish bosses.

Fairly positive it is still working correctly since I’ve had two random joiners in my alliance in the last few weeks.

I am leaning toward the fact that there are fewer players looking for new alliances currently… and like the above poster mentioned, they likely aren’t joining yours because of some of your team’s inactivity? Either way, if you ever do decide to join another alliance, one that always makes full progression on each boss event, we’d love you at the Fluffers!!

I'd buy that except 3 boss events ago when I kicked out 3 players we had everyone active (or away no more than a few days). So anyone joining then would have seen an active alliance which is why we never had issues for years getting new members joining whenever I had to remove inactive players.

Also many of the true newbie accounts that we'd often get (the ones with <10 characters on the roster, all 1 and 2 stars as if they'd just finished the tutorial) probably wouldn't even know or care about inactive players in an alliance.

Either something is broken or the players changing/joining alliances is WAY down since Unity (I suspect the latter since we've had at least 6-8 players since Unity go inactive and I presume it was because they suddenly can't play anymore because prior to that they were regular players with 4 or early 5 star rosters).

I'm a public alliance too, and I've found that as long as I never drop below 19/20, filling one spot with a random isn't difficult. But I also don't let inactive players hang around forever. I'm sure you're not watching it 24/7 -- it's possible that you get random joins and then they leave right away because you've got so many inactives.

Don't discount the daily iso for new players! The game tells them they're getting 1500 or whatever out of a possible 2000, so they will likely care about that.

I’m in the same boat as OP. Have had no one join our 16/20 alliance. Well still finish the boss event but it’ll be tighter than it needs to be

I think the number of players has just dropped significantly. I’ve noticed it in almost every aspect of the game. From placement changes to number of players joining a slice by a certain time to the issue of lack of new alliance members. And I’m seeing it in PvP and PvE.
