Strange Sights 5-Star Missing Node Update

Rather than risking a three-peat and having the missing 5 star node bug appear with the next run of Strange Sights, we opted to fix the bug mid event. We know this is an unpopular decision as it shifts the fairness of the competitive leaderboards in the event, but felt it was important to get it fixed asap.

For this instance of Strange Sights, we will be giving Tier 1 rewards for all players in the top 50 since we know you spend a lot of time playing the event and planning and these mid event changes can cause an unfair situation for you after playing. We'll also be grouping together the cover rewards into shards for that character so that you can get which color ability you want to receive.

Thanks for sticking with us while we work to make the game better!

As someone who is sitting 53rd right now I can tell you its going to be a crazy final set of clears to try and get into T50 because the reward jump is incredible.

So what was wrong with risking a three peat? I don't understand the logic there. A three peat would have been better than making the change mid-event. It's like y'all don't understand how people play this game at all.

If the choice was between fixing it mid-game or risking a three peat, just risk the three peat.

It was important to get it fixed ASAP. ASAP of course being shortly after the last run when it happened. But clearly that wasn't a priority.

My guess, based on zero facts, is that they don’t see the missing node in the test environment or something similar. So the only way to make sure it’s fixed before the next event is to update now on Live and actually confirm it’s working instead of hoping it works next time. Or at least that is how I am reading into their message

I can only imagine that any complaints are emotionally motivated as I simply don't understand the logic behind condemning the fix.

The logic is: why fix it in the middle of an event? Besides that, the devs knew this was an issue two months ago but it only affected Steam players so they probably just buried it in the back of their minds and hoped it would go away.

There was no need to fix it in the middle of an event. After the event, go ahead and fix it, and then see if that works. If it doesn't work, try another fix after the event. Don't make a change in the middle of the event.

Perhaps they tried to fix it between events after seeing the issue in the previous event you mentioned and only discovered it didn't work after this event started....

Which would logically dictate a more certain fix was to fix it during the event so they knew it worked....

... And if they did wait to try a fix between events... And that did didn't work... People would say..."they probably just buried in the back of their minds and hoped it would go away"...

Which means it makes sense to go ahead a fix it while giving a free extra rewards where it counts.

There is no victim to this fix. Any objective risk assessment would confirm they made the right call.

So you feel you personally missed out on something due to the fix? Do you just think it was the wrong choice regardless of actual outcome? I'm trying to understand your perspective.

I'm going to be in the 51-100 bracket when this ends but that's because I fell asleep whilst doing my final clears last night. Twice. I also went into slice 4, because I am taking a break from trying to get T10 in slice 3 and get some semblance of an evening back.

Someone may have pushed me out of T50 by being awake when the fix went in but I'll never know. I imagine if I was in that position and not taking a less competitive stance at the moment, I might have been a bit annoyed, because it's a good set of rewards, but not life changing enough to be angry.

I benefited from this update, being in s5 and having played optimally (almost lol) -- I think it made me t2, at least for a little while. But I think this update and compensation makes a lot of sense. It doesn't hurt me and it helps a lot of folks who played in earlier slices.

Can we just move on from this event? Everyone t50 is fine, and everyone higher is fine, too. Jesus, a 4* cover, 100 hp, whatever -- everyone competing at these levels is doing completely fine in the game. Chill. Go rake in some PvP covers for several hours and ascend your 2* Moonstone or whatever.

Was this for all players who finished top 50 regardless of slice and flip #? I don't think I got the top reward even though I finished top 50. Anybody get their rewards?

First, thank you for recognising that this was a situation that needed to be addressed.

Second, within our alliance there's a lot of disagreement about what this announcement means.

Some believe that it means that those who individually placed 1-50 will all receive the Tier 1 rewards in due course, and some think that the wording may refer to alliance placement and alliance rewards instead. Some think it may be both.

Some think that the rewards will be sent out automatically, and some think that the players concerned will need to ticket customer service to make it happen.

(I thought I knew what it meant but, having heard other opinions, now I'm not so sure...)

So, could we get a clarification on both of those points, please?

    Thank you in advance.

Especially since it's no longer possible to see where you finished in an event .

With less than 10 minutes to go, I was 35th and I was done my clears and went to bed. The rewards I got today were not T50 upgraded to Tier 1. I have no idea where I finished and whether or not I should be expecting any future rewards etc.

For those who were expecting immediate rewards and wondering whether they were individual vs team rewards, this might help:
