Points in pvp...

Not sure if it has been discussed before - but why points in pvp - instead of being "random" - are not related to the total health of the opponent?

For example - total / 1000

Right now you can get opponents 50k+60k+40k and get 7 points - or 5k+10k+8k for 40 points...

And higher you are, less points you get - even when opponents are weak - for example they're 7k+8k+30k, when I'm 200k+180k+160k - and will get only 5 points...

Yes, I get easy covers - but overall - it's a bit strange why it's like that...

If it was proportional to the total health - it would make more sense - and be fair.

Yes, skipping is "free" but it's just a waste of time.

I believe it was mentioned a long time ago that PVP points are based on the opponent's achievement at that time...

    What do you mean?

When you start pvp tournament - you get a few extremely easy fights - 20k+200+300 - with 20-40 winning points. Then they get harder significantly.

Recently - looks like a bug - every few hours you get again those extremely easy opponents - but most of the time, you get only 4-8 points for winning.

And even if you get more healthy / powerful opponents - you can skip a few times - or get back in a few hours.

So it's not like there is any kind of a logic - just a strange randomness.

Yes, it's good for "farming" - I can do 100-200 fights a day and get this amount of covers 😉 but it takes away all the fun.

    It's like a chore...

I can get 150k+200k+30k - for 22 points - or after skipping ONCE - the next one will be 20k+30k+15k - for 18 points...

So what's the point for me doing this first fight - when I get "EXACTLY" the same 1* / 2* cover - and pretty much the same amount of points - as if I'll skip even a few times?

    I have 2M+ ISO so skipping isn't a problem...

The game’s MMR is broken, yes. It’s a bug. Usually you join and get a few seeds and for most players they will then see teams near their own health and level - or above- worth usually around 20-35 points depending on whether their score is higher or lower than yours.

The game typically seeks out teams that are above your point level. That is the default factor along with teams near your strength or above. If the game started to weight total health as a main point factor, then a player could climb with a strong team, switch to a weak team using whales or something to win, and then their team would be worth a lot less points to fight. Thus they would be able to keep points without shielding or lose fewer points and it’d be harder for other players to climb because the players above them would be incentivized to leave out weak teams.

Edit: this is a chart of the way the point system works - it’s ELO and it’s 1-75 points depending on your point spread. Hope this helps. Also the MMR fix is supposed to be in early Sept per the devs.

The points aren't random. They're quite specific. Ask how a thing works before making assumptions.

Quite presumptuous to "suggest" a new something w/o understanding what's been in place for over a decade, much less why. Your suggestion would be a disaster.

That aside, PvP isn't feeling itself lately. Please bear with.

Eh, I can sympathize with OP here. PvP matchmaking and scoring really doesn't make much sense, and it's not explained at all anywhere. Versions of their idea have been suggested a million times over the years by veterans who do understand the current system.

In the past, players who cared enough to ask these sorts of questions would get directed to a Line chat where all of their questions are answered (and People Who Know Things would convert them into PvP players), but something has broken down in that system and I'm not sure what it is. I used to do that job!

Anyway I like the current system quite a bit, both because I understand it and how to exploit it, and because I was around for every weird update they made to close some loophole players found. It's almost totally unique because of all the weird hacks they've made over the years.

The change suggested is a bad idea, for plenty of reasons, but "current PvP makes no sense" is a very real problem.

Thanks - but do they take into consideration "pita" level of some characters / combos? 😉

They do not. Points you get are solely determined by how many points you have vs how many points the other guy has.

This can be used to your advantage!

No farther than what's reflected in the scores ... A team that is a PitA for everyone will generally be able to float at a higher score, assuming the player behind it is pushing as far as they can or staying unshielded.

A different kind of event or game mode or scores were based on damage done or they're bounties are different values on different characters or teams, or bonuses for using certain characters or teams, could be fun, great even, but no the game is not experimented with such.
