Best Builds for each character

Hey all,
I know Unity is kinda the big issue here, but is there anywhere on the forums or on Reddit that lists the best builds for each character (really only looking at 5s)? I have shards to use on many a 5 and want to make sure the build is "right" and softcap them. Thank you!

Kinda depends on what you're going for in places. Although MANY toons have two usable powers and an easy to pick dud power, there are plenty who offer actual options.

The Wiki used to have a "best build" section on its character pages ... but it seems thiose sections haven't been built out in years ... the Wiki is months behind in creating pages for new characters ... and some character pages were never built out / are years overdue.

Your best bet is to leverage in-game event standings to look up the members of top alliances. See how several sop PvE-ers or Pvp-ers have character(s) of interest built.

Not all characters have one best build. Several can be tweaked situationally, have different "best" builds depending who they are beung used with, with what supports and/or boosts, who is/isn't boosted, and who they aren't fighting.

Daredevil has a really nice writeup guide on the 5s that includes the recommended builds.

He stopped maintaining it a while ago (it only has the 1st 86 5 star characters and we are over 100 now) but for older ones it's very worthwhile.

Most of the strategy stuff comes from the higher tier players and most of us stopped paying attention to this when champions (and free respec!) showed up.

They've also gotten much, much better at not making characters with an obvious "dump" power that's way worse than their other two, so it matters way less than it used to.

In the old days we'd debate this stuff all the time, but now I respec characters, sometimes multiple times per event, based on which specific team I'm using.

I love that there are so many ways to play the game. You respec characters, sometimes multiple times per event. I respec my characters never. Maybe the last time I respeced was several years ago? Can't remember. Both totally valid ways depending on what is fun for the individual.

Tangent --> This is what frustrates me most about what is happening with this Unity engine. It's not me losing out on something or not able to get the newest whatever. It's about people either quitting this game or not even trying it because of this mess. After a month in, I thought it would be fairly stabilized. I really don't want this game to die as there is nothing else like it with Marvel behind it.

The guide KGB posted above is very useful for older characters, you might need to weary of reworked characters like OldManLogan etc. though, so always double check yourself if you plan on soft capping them.

Actually, that list is still probably fine, because those older characters are pretty much the only ones that have a "best" build! Newer characters may play a little differently if you favor one power over another, but generally they're not "worse," just different. And yes, reworked characters will be different from the guide, but because they're new, they're less likely to be bad if you've got them in the wrong spec.

    Plus one for Daredevil’s list.
