As the Daily Crash gets shut down....

This week we will lose the Daily Crash, may it rest in peace. Meanwhile... what do our in-game numbers look like right now?
159 4s with Capt Avalon. Do you want 13 covers for all of them? 113? 126? 526 (550)? Let's just go with you want every 4 at 300. That's 43 covers each or 6,837 covers. 550 them all? A pipe dream for almost all, but 83,634 covers.
It takes 4 years to run all the 4s as classics for PVE. 64 weeks minimum to offer all 4s as PVP rewards. Crash cycle? 159 weeks, obviously or 3.06 years.
Getting 2 extra crashes/repeats a day = 12 extra a week. We see this week, the repeating Crash is just one. So that's 6 extra, 18 every 2 weeks or 36 over 4 weeks. If the Crash(es) repeated every day.
A 5 has 12 weeks in Latests. 36x3 LTs =108 LTs if you kept the Daily Crash(es) going. Too much? Again there are 159 4s....you get 1/7 as 5s so from 108 LTs, approx 15 5s over those 12 weeks you wouldn't have before, then 93 4s, so a cover, approximately, for 58% of the tier. Over 12 weeks those 93 4s are 1.3% of your desired 6837 to get all the 4s to 300.
Over. 12. weeks.
The game of course wants you to highly value those LTs which barely make a dent in the need. So they'll sell you an LT or two for 2.99. Today you get an LT and 10 elites and some FF season vault tokens in the Lightning deal for $1.99. If you just get 1-2 free a day would you buy them? Well....I just laid out the immense amount of covers you can potentially use. You may decide no spending matters, or maybe you like spending a little on some pull and seeing what happens...or whatever. But getting a 1-2 more a day? Doesn't seem to me it'd scratch anyone's itch in a game this full of characters.
I know.... wow, players want more rewards. What a surprise.
They have promised us more rewards over and over. Just wait for the new engine, they said.
Well....we are still waiting. As the game gets more and more characters and there's no end in sight, just a constantly growing need.

Only 86,634 covers needed to 550 them all? Why at a rate of earning 1 per second you are there in <24 hours. What's all the complaining about?
In all seriousness they've needed to retire older characters for a VERY long time now. As in many years. Of course vets whine anytime this idea gets discussed.
In reality all PvEs, Crashes, PvPs should have 2 4 star options. A 'classic' 4 that goes through the 159 rotation and 'current' 4 that goes through any released in the last 2 years (so last 26 since we get ~13 a year). So at the start of the PvE/PvP/Crash you'd select whether you wanted to use the classic or the new and that would determine which was the required character and which you got shards/covers for. This lets vets keep acquiring covers for 4s they may care about / have ascended and newer players can just concentrate on the last 26 characters that repeat (well the oldest of those gets dropped off every time a new one is added) giving them much better chances to champ and potentially ascend them.

They have been very clear with their priorities. If it is a bug that even mildly benefits the players it will be quickly fixed. If your phone is melting that is on the backburner. Pretty sure dilution is about item 465,234 on the list.

Ah, good old vaulting! I liked the concept last time it was around but somehow it never benefitted me in terms of who I was able to champ!
To be fair it has never been easier to obtain covers for new 4*, they are showered upon us. But yes, the 4* tier is so horribly bloated as to be practicality impenetrable if you haven't been playing for a good long while.

Yes 550'ing all seems like a pipe dream, but ... summoning Principal Skinner ... all things come in time ... everything gets faster all the time ... one step at a time .... etc.
My highest 4 is approaching 550 already and there's a slew lined up behind him. It's only taken 9yrs of play spread over 11yrs!
At 526 covers each to 550 (13 + 13 + 100 + 100 + 300) x 163 that's only 85,738 covers. Or 34,295,200 shards. Or some combination thereof. What a relief!

If they ever pivoted to selling something besides roster slots it might be changed, but that's kind of a tall order at this point.
