New Character - Elsa Bloodstone (Space Hunter) 5*

Alright, I'll actually write a review of the character powers and not the origin or relevance of her.
Overall, I like this and here's why:
(reference Build 5/5/3 at level 450)8 Red to deal 33.75% damage. Plus an extra 5K per trap tile. So if you have Aunt May, then this deals 100% damage? Which means she could down any character no matter the size? 600K health Juggernaut? 1 Million health Magneto? It's quite simple, put Arc Reactor on May, pick your target, match Red, then next turn they die. But supports like Leapfrog, Eros or Fantasticar could prevent the instant kill. But that doesn't mean this isn't dangerous!
Making her Traps is simple (a match 4+) like Chavez, plus her cheap Purple power. So firing this Red is like triggering all the traps. Even without May, this is strong, being at least 25K dmg.
8 Blue Stun anyone anywhere for 3 turns. Of course, this stun could go down to 5 Blue if you fire her purple and the stun could end if the CD tile is destroyed. Nevertheless, being able to stun an airborne, invisible or away character is very nice. Being able to extend the stun for 2 turns with 5 Blue is also a nice option.
5 Purple to create 4 traps, which either deal 8K dmg or you gain 1 Red & 1 Blue AP. Plus a passive to create traps. I'm sure the developers know that traps are not reliable, so you can either match them yourself for extra AP or trigger them all with her Red.
Bonus Round: her red passive deals 35% additional dmg to her target, which includes her match and trap tile damage. Arguably that's just a little bit more but I'll take it.
At her best, she could quickly kill 1 target while stunning another. If the opposing team doesn't have any "nuke avoidance" then you could pair with Aunt May to down any character on your 2nd turn. Add Deathlok to that team for a steady supply of red & blue. Maybe give her Fantasticar to help create trap tiles?

Blue - Like I said, what does stunning away/airborne people do? I think archangel stuns airborne people, does that let them be hit normally or just have them stunned up there? Don't think we've ever been able to affect away people at all, so no clue what this could mean.
The game only lets you have one status (? I'm not sure what to call this). You can see this with 5* Riri, Mbw, or any other AoE stun -- if you stun an enemy that's invisible, they'll just be stunned. If there's an invisibility tile targeting them, they'll go back to being invisible when the stun wears off. Archangel does stun airborne characters as well. He just switches their status to stunned.
So I assume (dangerous with these devs, I know) that hitting an away/airborne guy will just make them stunned.

I cannot let go of the enormous frustration with the recent character choices and the lack of innovation in the game mechanics.
I can perfectly see a mojoverse event, with a boss as Mojo with several alternative vaults as different worlds. The danger room that has a random boss every time you enter; it's so much potential thrown away and they just reinvent characters when there are hundreds already unexplored. Not only the selection of characters has been very demotivating, but in a whole art direction, development has left much to be desired. I write this as a fan, it can be done better.3 -
Agree with others, we seem to be getting characters that no one over 30-35 has heard of. It does mean they're looked at purely for their mechanical properties. Don't imagine a world where people are dropping cash for characters they have no emotional investment in unless they're the new meta. I get that not every character can be an A-lister but I think it's between 40%-55% of characters this year are ones I recognise, depending on whether you count unrecognisable versions of characters I know of as recognisable. My knowledge of last 20 years Marvel might be a lot less complete than it could be but most people could probably describe me as a hardcore Marvel fan, I should recognise 70%-90% of characters being added.
Don't want to beat up on any particular character and this is a cool character design for what it's worth. Taken as individuals the year's crop are mostly kind of cool on some level but the pattern of unrecognisable characters is mounting.
Would be fascinating to know if this was a top down (character idea first, then mechanics to fit) or bottom up (mechanics first) design. I could understand it a lot more if someone was looking at the meta and said "We need a counter to 'away' and we also want GotG synergy, who are we going to call?" Even then though you could probably fit these powers to Doctor Voodoo or a new Drax.

To defend the GotG choice first here: many players in 4* land and beyond are probably dealing with the stupid defense supports in PvP.
I assume Rocket remains in the top 3-5 champed 4s in the game for new players so you can see why they would make boost his strikes if the goal was a character to counter the defensive **** and quickly kill a support holder etc.
So that seems like a working backwards factor. Make person boost Rocket strikes.
Then you want to make someone a hunter (Angela has a similar mechanic with creating targets) but anyway they may have been looking for a hunter character to introduce. Going original version meant any powers they wanted. Another factor - I have nothing against this but they seem to at times try to prefer female characters which is probably because Marvel and the game have so many male characters and they want to balance that a bit.
So you have:
1. Want a new powerset to address support nonsense - original means Marvel will basically approve anything
2. Makes Rocket strikes bigger to kill faster
3. Has a hunter association
4. Is a female characterAnd you end up with Space Elsa. Sure there were other options maybe, but this is what they did.
After thinking about it a bit I am fully on board.

Apart from minor details, this origin sounds suspiciously familiar, suspiciously Star-Lord familiar!
Her first abilities picture makes it look like she is a lighting technician at a rock concert and her second picture looks like that rock concert ended with electrical generator overload.
Also she is a bounty hunter and aren't the Guardians normally wanted for something? So has she joined them to hand them over to the cops? If so, fair enough.
I've long given up reading and/or understanding powers, I just wait for @entrailbucket to say if she is good or not and take it from there.
I guess this confirms that Marvel/Devs released characters for Ironheart as Pride characters and not Ironheart characters which doesn't exactly give confidence they have any faith in Ironheart itself as a tv show. That may at least free up some much needed GoT time, so thanks for the heads up.

Most of the new characters deserve a shot at least.I'll say she is a tool to use for specific interactions. She won't be meta but she clearly will be useful against Leapfrog teams when they get sent airborne or away.
No defense though so who knows. This is probably their first shot at going after Leapfrog

Eh, I try to say something after I've got the character championed and played a hundred or so matches with them. That's the only way you can get a sense of what they're supposed to do.

I used to find it comical how the same group of guys would post their sweeping generalizations without actually trying the character first despite being proven wrong again and again and again. Nice to see things haven’t changed for every new character reveal.
Wait…. Did I say “nice to see”? My bad. I meant to say “It’s pathetic”.

She's not awful. She doesn't do what she's designed to do (do big damage with a giant but way too complicated blast. They really messed that one up,) but her red and yellow don't suck, and the repeater stuns relatively often if it survives.
Probably C-tier? Mine is too low relative to the rest of my roster to really use, even when boosted.

Lol! Then what are players supposed to comment on? The art? Any typos? Who is in or not in the release store? Who will be the feeder?
Ofcourse ppl are going to speculate it is only natural. It is part of the fun.

Sorry. I’m sure she does more than lighting. Maybe also set design?

Speculation is fine, but after like the 300th time somebody says "nope, useless, garbage, won't even roster" on a character that turns out to be Aunt May or Sam Wilson, it's time to learn some lessons.
Personally I think we need to start shaming people. I stopped doing this because I went back and read years of my horrendous pre-release takes and thought "oh wow I am a tremendous idiot." Like, I thought 5* Scarlet Witch would never see play! That should follow me around forever. Nobody should ever listen to anything I say because I legitimately thought that!
And likewise, all the hype merchants who tried to push 5* Namor, or the doomers who dismissed Sam Wilson should have to permanently put those takes in their signature so we know who we're dealing with.

Suggestion for a possibly fun repeating thread:
“Now that has been released, I think they are <bettter/worse/the same> as I predicted based on pre-release”
Set it up as a poll. Maybe our admin can put it out a week after release (aka between new characters).

"Using an Arcano-Tech device, Else locks her Quarry in space-time, forcing them fully into this reality."
"This ability can target Airborne, Invisible, and Away enemies."
Ignoring the typo of her name, this creates a use for her.
I have no idea what the rest of her kit does...
(and it doesn't matter due already having pick two options for quick/spam wins)
...but this one fraction of one of her powers means she's useful. Everything else is extra regardless of how good/bad it is.

So do I get a woman following me ringing a bell saying "shame" and "pathetic"?
To be honest I don't need one as my wife pretty much fills this role.2
