Dev Update #4 - MPQ Unity Staggered Launch

The day has finally come when we can officially say that the Unity engine upgrade of MARVEL Puzzle Quest is ready to launch!
After a long development cycle and our recent beta test, the MPQ Unity build is feeling pretty solid, and we’re excited to get this version of the game out to the rest of our community. Upon launch, players should expect some visual fidelity improvements in framerates and smoothness in animations, but everything else should remain the same as the current live version. The transition should feel seamless, especially with your live account, so if you encounter any unexpected issues, reach out to our fantastic support team for assistance!
As with any major overhaul, there may be some unknown issues that surface as we roll out the build to a much larger pool of devices. To ensure that we catch any serious issues before they potentially affect larger groups of players, we’ll be rolling out Unity in phases to each platform in the order below. Note that these stages will be spread out by roughly 7 business days or longer based on how each preceding platform’s launch is performing.

For players who have their accounts linked across multiple platforms, please note that playing MPQ on the newest Unity build on a device will softlock you out of your other devices until those devices have been updated to the same Unity version.
These coming weeks will mark a monumental and exciting time in MPQ’s 12-year run! While the team is currently focused on ensuring a smooth rollout of Unity to all platforms and players, we still have our eyes set on a post-Unity development roadmap and all of the things that Unity will allow us to do for the MPQ community. The initial phase after the Unity upgrade may seem slow, as we will be focused on porting (and upgrading) our current development tools to the new Unity engine. During this time, we will have to support both the current, older version of MPQ and the new Unity version of MPQ to ensure smooth operation for events, characters, and content. Once we have the tools to succeed in Unity, we can begin creating new content and focusing our efforts into the long-awaited updates to the game!
We’ll have more details on these efforts in a future roadmap blog. Until then, please feel free to let us know your experience with the new Unity upgrade of MPQ once it rolls out to your preferred platform. We’re excited and we can’t wait for you to try it!

Known Issues
- General graphical formatting issues are present in Unity like assets taking a few seconds to load and slight animation/display glitches.
- Supports show multiple copies of each other. This is only a visual bug.
- Saved Teams are empty after the update and need to be resaved.
- Some rewards from Season Pass, Daily Plays, and Quests aren’t showing up on player accounts. This is a known issue where the backend data is present and requires a patch to correctly send earned rewards.

On Steam...things in general seem to be taking much longer than usual.
The animation is smoother, but the tile movements are slower, and there is a longer gap than normal between the moves. Windows and tiles are sliding around more, rather than just appearing in the screen.
There's also rather long "Here's all the data we're going to slurp" agreement you need to approve before you can play the game, but that has nothing to do with the new engine.
Scrolling through the tokens, it looks like each individual character is their own graphic, and they all initially just appear one at a time. Once they're loaded, they stay in the window. Dr. Strange is hiding in the "Mighty" tokens window.
Oh, this is not good. If you're using the mouse to scroll in one of the "Offers" and your cursor is in the bar that shows what the rewards are, the bar with the rewards scrolls horizontally. You need to move the cursor out of that bar before you can move up or down again. Same thing happens with any of the vaults. If your cursor is in the portion with all of the token/covers, that scrolls left/right with the mouse button, and you need to move your cursor off to the side before you can scroll vertically again.

So if the Steam update is next week (?), that'll be off-season, and then every other device gets updated during the next season? With any errors/fowls messing people season performance?
Expect some hate mail depending on issues.

So, first impressions on Steam.
Features : Different font. Animations feel a bit more laggy (might have to do with loading new stuff). You can't scroll down in the middle no more in the Recruit/Offers/Vault sections. You can only scroll vertically until you encounter the contents of the offer. You then scroll horizontally to see the contents.
Hiccups : New Avengers Daily Quest (stun enemies) doesn't work. Not weird considering you need Luka Cage (probably lives on the second floor).
If you want to put on/switch a support you get 4 of every support.

When your character is stunned in the Clash of the Titans, some of the symbols on the tiles vanish until your character becomes unstunned.
Saved teams have vanished.
How much was this tested on Steam before being released?

This update is so bad on Steam....
Laggy on steam so far and yeah the token vault scrolling on Steam is now awful as mentioned above by sambrookjm. The laggy feel is really because everything seems to be trying to process too fast and it seems to skip stuff. All saved teams are gone too, that's not a huge issue but
not sure why that info didn't transfer. Progression reward bar on DDQ is messed up (not sure about bars yet). Matches animation are wonky. Sometimes they are delayed and then sometimes they happen so fast I can't tell what just happened. I also didn't get credit for the completed season quest for charged tiles. I completed it, but it didn't give me any points
Slow leveling up of node difficulties after completing missions (didn't start until later, not initially an issue for me). No Pride Month token even after using characters awarded.
There are so many glitches I keep finding it is almost impossible to list them all now....I hope there is more coming because right now everything I have experienced so far is worse than before on Steam. I will update when I come across the first good thing.
Update: After my complete playthrough of DDQ, PvP, PvE and quests play, I have nothing good to say so far about this new engine. I hope most of these issues are bugs that will be fixed but how could you release this engine in this state? Maybe the good stuff from the engine will come in the future, but the cost to a loss in player base before then may be too much. Hopefully, Steam was the most difficult conversion for the engine and it is better on other operating systems.
Update 2:I am getting points for the season quest on the missions that work, but not sure if I actually received the rewards since I don't get a pop-up showing I received the iso/red iso etc. Also still no tokens for using characters in the Pride Month vault. The one good news is that the Crash of Titans opened up for me again, so I can do it daily. The only good bug I have come across at this time!
Also when you get into situation where the grid reshuffles because there are no matches, it use to reset and there were no matches? I just had that happen to me in DDQ and the enemy (Ragnarok) got instant multiple matches on me that did damage to me off the grid reshuffle and then got to take their normal match, I don't ever remember that happen before. It was not him using his green power either.

Unfortunately, I did the stun quest before the update, so can't check anymore.
As for the supports, it seems to be a visual glitch, as they can still only be equipped to one character, so I've passed this info on.0 -

Also just crashed on me after the third fight (going up in order) in the DDQ. Just got the blue screen with the game version in the lower left corner. Had to close down the game and restart. Fortunately, progress was saved.
I double checked to make sure it wasn't a network error, but I could browse the web just fine while waiting for the blue screen to go away.

OK...I thought I was imagining that. Same thing happened here, but I wasn't paying enough attention to it to make sure that had really happened. Different team, but the reshuffle did result in a couple of matches for the enemy team.

Checking out Discord, and this engine was SO not ready to be released. Seems like it had to be released to make an "arbitrary" deadline that was promised to investors. But it is not ready AT all.

On steam here. I played few Hulkling PVP matches and noticed the opponent team tends to load all characters as Hulklings, then changed to the intended characters. Funny
... And i suddenly got bonus rewards activated, but i haven't purchased anything as of late... truly got bonus
Edit: the character swap thing happens after the game loaded afresh and played 1 match. Seems like the engine will load all as the mid character, then change. Almost like those mindless ones dropping special tiles instantly after loading the game, but dropping them slowly in subsequent matches. Hmm...
Edit 2: making matches and navigating the game in general felt like navigating through thick syrup, as in it is smooth and sluggish at the same time. Kinda irritating...

But it is not ready AT all.Well it may have the opposite effect of causing it lose players if this is the tested release....Alternatively this may their way of getting the game off Steam, just make it unplayable under the new engine.
