I dunno about you but over the years here on the Forums I have seen plenty discussion about how players are "casual" but there has never been much of any sort of definition of what that could mean. So I came up with a test! Below are a number of categories where you can score yourself points and then consult the end chart to determine if you are a hardcore player or not! I'll use myself as an example and see where that lands me.

There will be 4 levels of MPQ player:

Casual
Average
Hardcore
Super Hardcore

Q.1 How long have you been playing MPQ?

10 years + = 4 points
Less than ten but more than 5 years + = 3 points
Less than 5 but more than 1 = 2 points
Less than 1 year = 1 point

Q.2 In the last story event that you completed, what was your final ranking?

1st - 4 points
2-5th - 3 points
Top 20 - 2 points
Top 21 - 200 1 point EDIT

Q.3 How many shields did you use in your last Versus event?

2 or more - 4 point
1 or less 2 points
EDIT

Q.4 Has your Alliance ALWAYS in the last 2 years beaten Round 8 in a Boss Event?

Yes: 2 Points
No: 1 point

Q.5 How many 5* characters do you have champed?

100+ = 4 points
50+ = 3 points
20 + = 2 points
1+ = 1 point

(Select the highest value that applies)

Bonus Question:

Do you have any characters at Level 550?

Yes: 2 points

Q.6 - In Versus mode, what is your usual target for wins:

50+ wins - 4 points
50 wins - 3 points
25 wins - 2 points
12 wins - 1 point

Q.7 How many Rank 5 Supports do you have?

15 + - 4 points
10+ - 3 points
5+ - 2 points
1+ - 1 point

Q.8 How many Ascended character to 5* level do you have?

50+ - 4 points
30 + - 3 points
20 + - 2 points
10 + - 1 point

(Select the highest value that applies)

Bonus Question: Do you spend far too much time posting on the official Forum?

Yes: You aren't getting any points for this, loser!
No: Good for you!

Final Score charts for ranking:

Super Hardcore: 32 - 34
Hardcore: 25 - 31
Average: 15 - 24
Casual: 1- 14

So, applying to myself I scored as follows:

I love this. It also looks like 32 is the max you can get.

There is an extra 2 points for a bonus question which should take it to 34 but it is entirely possible that is only reachable by outside collusion (or I can't add up)!

Super Hardcore - Yeah!

I got a 30. Only used 2 shields last event which dinged me 2 points. Otherwise straight 4s across the board (even got first last PVE event luckily). Hardcore based on your scale. Super Hardcore based on the collusion scale.

Also I'm hoping this may spark a "oh no you're not" sort of argument over a mobile game.

Yes - + 25 points - just by being here you're more hardcore than 95% of the player base
No - 0 points...

21 points for me - definitely averagely hardcore. Been around long enough I have the hardcore roster, but I rarely aim for placement in either PVE or PVP

Making me a causal player. Potentially I could be a 14 because in some PvP events I do shield if I happen to get an event where I have the right character boosted so that I can easily get 25 wins and T25.

@DAZ0273:

I think your alliance question doesn't have enough options. It's basically 1 or 2 points with 2 only if you always hit Round 8. You should have at least included a bonus of +2 if you've changed alliances in the last year as a merc (ie changed for boss then went back to your old alliance) and +1 if you've change alliances specifically because your old one didn't score high enough (ie reach/finish R8).

Your bonus question of posting too much on the Forum should have had a 3rd option that gave +1 if you also spend time on Reddit or Discord and post there too (+2 if you do both).

Also need a question related to spending. 0 = FTP, 1 = <$10 month (VIP or less), 2 = $11-100, 4 = 100+. Bonus: +1 if you are currently FTP but lifetime have spent >$250, +2 if you've ever participated in a buy club.

I think your target for casual is still a daily player that is playing for progression.
Even the bottom of your scoring would place them as dedicated at least.

I would think players who place t100 in all pves and also PvP every event up to 12 wins is probably a hardcore player.

I think investment of time is a better measure.

Still a cool idea for a poll though.

Hardcore - *air guitar solo"

I got Hardcore with a score of 28. Two of the questions didn't have answers appropriate for me though.

I don't care much about PVE so I usually end up top 200. That wasn't an option so I did 0 since top 100 was 1.

I usually score between 1200 and 1300 in PVP and end up top 5. I don't pay any attention to number of wins, so I went with 50 +4 points since 50 wins is the equivalent to 1200 points. I think I usually end up getting to 1200 in about 25 wins though.

I got 26! I lost points for not caring about PvE rank, being in a mostly casual alliance, and only using one shield per event.

I think possibly the amount of Shields used may not be weighted correctly, so that might need adjusting as not being as relevant as first put. Possibly also PvE may need scaling too?

I wasn't sure where to put the cut off there for PvE- theoretically on release events scoring down to 200th rank is relevant in terms of earning covers so possibly that one is overblown/not reflective of true participation value.

Investment of time is a tough one - I recently helped my wife's account with playing PvE and man it took forever and that was even without her having a few of the essentials - she definitely would not score above very low casual. So weighing that for scoring was hard. You might also be right about 12 wins but I couldn't really think what reward mark was as appropriate below that - that is partly a problem of PvP rewards having such outdated balance where you need a relatively stupid amount of wins for a 3 star cover.

I will admit that I didn't include PvP rank because of collision scores, so you likely might have scored higher if I had done. I didn't really know how else to rank PvE which is the main part of the game for most. I am thinking weighting on shields is too high, so you might be owed points there. All that said, given your profile I think you are probably where you should be at.

So going by feedback I think at least the 2 following adjustments might apply:

Shields used:

2 or more - 4 points
1 or less - 2 points

And for PvE extended the 1 point range down to rank 200.

I think that bumps me by 2 points.
