    For many, many years, the top MPQ purchase was the $5 HP pack, followed by the $20 HP pack. I'm not sure if we can still get those stats, the app stores used to publish them.

    Their business model is getting a large number of players to spend a small amount of money. That happens because of the release schedule and dilution.

    They're very, very good at it -- in fact they're one of the best (or at least they were). That business model insulates them from the pressures that a lot of other f2p games have. Most of these games depend on catering to very high-spending whales.

    One of the reasons for that is because not only does MPQ not rely on short bursts of player activity before requiring you buy something to keep playing, the whole system is designed to encourage a longer view. Of course there are choke points but they are not overly predatory and can enable genuine roster growth if you do spend as a newer player.
