There was a lot of talk around this change regarding the ability of players to "catch up" or become competitive with the top X%.

If the top X% are currently not spending anything, then everything you spend now is moving you closer to them! They've purposely chosen to stall their own progress, so if you're looking to get competitive vs them, now is your chance to catch up!

I know I'm already taking full advantage of this, and will continue to do so.

So if there are no demands how can BCS possibly draw a line to their revised policy as being the reason they aren't spending? The bean counters will just find new ways to replace the lost revenue (and perhaps they already have).

This is, forgive me, silly.

The people who have been doing buy clubs - unless I'm completely off base - are people who have the metas at high levels or 550. They cannot "fall behind" unless the game devs introduce somehow even more meta characters than exist. I continue to contend that there is not really any design space that exists for MOAR META barring a huge overhaul of PVE or I suppose 6*s (look at Golden Oldie, everyone who cares has her at 550 and uses her to chase top placement. you will never need anyone else once you have her and her teammates). Like the devs could slightly move the needle with speed or ease of setup with a PVE clearer, maybe. Or for PVP they could create another oppressive character I guess....but the main requirement for winning PVP is coordination via Line. You can't spend your way to winning PVP unless they created a truly broken character that you could get and no one else could.

In these cases (more meta, if the devs are willing to go there) the spenders will, presumably, break their boycott.

A large part of the reason behind this boycott, IMO, is probably the meh-ness of the recent 5s especially ones that didn't already get swapped into 550 land for these players. Namor and now Gorgon are like fine, but nothing anyone needs to "win" and if some person was going it alone (not pooling resources/alliance bonuses) and making big purchases - unless they are already in possession of a very deep, very advanced roster - they will not "catch up" in any significant manner.

The same advanced rosters will win with the tools they already have when they want to do so.

If a truly meta changing character was introduced the current boycotters would probably just spend again.

What makes it even funnier is that if these players are boycotting they don't know why they are boycotting or they don't have any actual reason to boycott except they do but they aren't telling anybody. Boycott! The Devs couldn't make any sense of that if they wanted to and they probably don't given they knew the policy would be unpopular to a tiny minority. Bearing in mind that "Buy clubs" are an artificial player facing thing. Could you guys not come up with a better name than that though? HP huggers? Mo' Money? CP4ME?

IMHO those objecting have been pretty clear about what they want changed:

1) Make the swapping costs lower. Remember, swapping 5* latests used to be free. Yes, we got the ability to swap 1, 2, 3, and 4* characters, and we got the ability to swap covers for any character as long as the character is champed, and maybe that’s worth some small tax. But to go from free to 1000 HP per cover? People would save and save and save tokens and CP and swap literally hundreds of covers. So to have to pay thousands of dollars to buy Starks for something that used to cost $0…
2) Allow a mechanism for swapping for the New Release. Previously you could swap excess latests for the new release. Now you can’t swap for them at all. And then once they are in Latests, well, back to 1000 HP per cover

Well…seems like after the update, you can’t swap for 3* Namor (I have a couple 3* Vultures in my queue and checked)

Hmm I thought the devs wanted us to use the cover swap system? Is this a bug? Or they’re finally realising just how broken lower-tier characters ascended to 5* are, especially Namor. Yknow they could just hit him with the nerf bat [shrug]

On The Official Discord that some think is some secret place only Line players know about, S0kun said that the 3Namor not-swap thing is a bug that will be fixed.

It was 3* S0Kun (Villain) who dastardly hides information from us by posting there.

5 * S0Kun (Heroic) is the one who posts here keeping us up to date.
