Huh, you’re right. I ascended max-max so I collected everything.

    Yeah. I noticed that, too.

Here's mine, for what it's worth. He looks ok to me. Overall interesting. Red looks solid. Black and blue look ok. Powers are cheap. I wouldn't pull for him (I only pull a couple times a year), but I will pull for Jubilee, and I like Kaine over May, so I'll be getting him.

I got my one cover overnight for the Kaine feeder being Spider-Man India, I should certainly get more if it's Anti-Venom, who I have ascended level 451. I submitted a ticket, so we shall see

You apparently missed the various posts recently about retro rewards for ascended characters.

Ascending max/min will absolutely screw you for retro covers. You need a 290 before ascending to avoid this. You got what the game says you should get for the Anti-Venom.

Previously people have widely reported being ignored by CS on this issue. Hope you have better luck.

Can someone please explain this table to me? I keep getting the feeling that there's a way to better do things in this game that I am not yet privvy to.

    tldr

Alot of these charts are short term optimized so that you get specific rewards before you would have gotten them naturally (via max-max) the drawback is that you give up the most lucrative part of the farm.

There are plenty of valid reasons to do this vs max-max but I'll leave you with this guide post.

High level PVP is usually played in the 600+ realm. So its rare that any char in the sub 500 range is actually important in placements battles.

From that viewpoint, max-max (i.e. maxing farm value) will always give better resources and sustainability.

See, what I wanted was not advice on what to do, but rather, I just understand nothing about what you guys are saying. In the context of ascension, I have no idea what is min-max or max-max, why in the graphic there is a column that says 4* + 4*, or anything at all of many posts here.

When a character reaches max champ level- like, say, a 3star reaches lvl 266 - you can "ascend" them to be a higher star category. This is a fairly new feature. The game treats that 3* then as a 4* (so, you wouldn't be able to use it in the 3* Deadpool's Daily node anymore), it will give you champ rewards as if it was a 4* , but it will require multiple 3* covers per champ level to advance.

You need the max champ character for this and a second champ copy. The second copy can also be max lvl, so a lvl 266 3* and anothe lvl 266 3* (3* + 3* ), for example. In which case, those two combine into a 4-ascended 3* and it jumps you up in levels. This way, you double-dip in rewards, because you used those covers to level the second copy and then you get more stuff when you ascend. This is often the prefered way to optimise rewards.

I did this recently with 3* Dr.Strange. lvl 266 3* Strange + lvl 266 Strange made a lvl 303 4-ascended 3* Strange. Because those two are two max champ versions, it jumped me up in levels and instantly gave me all those 4* champ rewards, was pretty nice.

We call this max-max for short.

And I'm sure you can now see what max-min is: You still need the max champ (lvl 266 for a 3* ), but you don't bother to level the second copy and just use a fresh lvl 166-167 3* champ, the minimal level you can use. The lvl 266+166 still combine into a 4-ascended 3* together, but it won't jump you up in levels and you'll end up with a 4-ascended 3* at around lvl 270.

    Does this make it clearer?

To be fair, people haven't really had a good opportunity to use him yet.

On paper, he does nothing remarkable for PvE. PvE is currently dominated by team combos of AoE + Boost skills or match damage boost + critical tile makers with a healthy dose of supports that supply AP, none of which he has.

For PvP, he is arguably upper mid-level good meaning he should do fairly well when god-boosted but you probably won't see much of him outside of that.

He has fun skillset but he is largely a combo-type character meaning he can probably work magic in the player's hands but will be all sorts of wonky when played by the AI.

From off the top of my head, his best 5* partner is most likely Sersi. They complement each other really well with Sersi's purple and green helping to feed Kaine red, black and blue, and Kaine's blue helping to trigger cascade madness. Probably not so strong in terms of defense, but definitely a lot of fun if you like creating cascades.

Another potential candidate may be Scarlet Witch, but that combo is leaning more heavily in the defensive skills department so will be much slower and more conservative in terms of raw damage. But with supports being in PvP now, it might be a good option if you find yourself having trouble surviving the initial volley of attacks from one-shot teams like the Golden Oldie and Emma.

And there are likely other options I haven't really thought of yet.

Still trying to figure out if there's a Spider-verse character he can make music with lol

Yeah, thanks a lot. I have already ascended several characters in a min-maxing way, as I realise now. Unfortunately, I have no other choice as I returned to the game after many years away and now I'm extremely roster-slot-poor. Keeping hostage a slot for god knows how long until it becomes max champ again means that I can't be doing anything else with that slot (whether rostering one of the dozens of characters I still don't have but randomly get here and there, or ascending a different character).

It really, really doesn't matter that much. You don't lose out on that much by ascending characters whenever you feel like it.

He's annoying to face. That's probably the best way to put it. He's pretty AI proof with his passives and can just be a third wheel when boosted.

Everything about him is a bit dull. Even his animations look like he barely wants to be in the game.

Almost like, perhaps he didn't appreciate being summarized as "trench coat"?

Kaine is boosted right now, but using him with ascended Nightcrawler and Cyclops PF and it is amazing through the first few runs. He seems to play much better in practice than on paper. The red plays much better than I anticipated and the other two are good feeders and board shakers. Just ignore black.

He is high B tier low A.

Decent damage board shake and good retaliation.

You will not build around him but he is a good third or very good when boosted

Oh, great question. I mainly do PVE. Why is May that great? I feel like more people like her than I do, so i might be missing something.

With the right supports she can win almost every PvE fight without moving the board once.

Are you guys comparing Aunt May to May Parker (though technically isn't Aunt May, May Parker???)
