My brain can no longer take these characters power descriptions

This one doesn't seem so bad. I am still not reading it but at least there aren't 267 different things happening.

I think it's less complicated than it seems.
You gain light points with Yellow or Blue matches, or dark points with Black or Purple matches. Light and dark points are decremented with gaining the other type of point. Unmentioned, but probable, you don't actually gain dark points until light points are at zero, and vice versa.
Slash is cheaper with light points, or does more damage with dark points.
Healing increases with more light points, or heals a larger amount, but damages the Hunter with dark points (less self damage with more dark points).

What happened to the good old days when 3* powers were simple? Look at Kamala Khan, Black Panther, basically every 3* before BCS reintroduced the 3/5 split. At least Hunter's powers aren't as complicated as Magik's or High Evo's.
I don't know if it's true for this one, because I ain't reading all that, but some of the recent powers that are very complicated to write actually play relatively simply. High Evolutionary is a good example of this -- his powers were a crazy block of text, but I feel like I have a good handle on what he does now

I'm just starting to read and digest this, but the 3* could have had a passive at the start of the battle to pick either Light or Dark to make it easier but with less utility. Probably less fun to play with though, so I'll be quiet. 😆

All I know is I saw this:
Ability: Slash
And if I get anything other than this:
then I am going to be mighty disappointed.

I'm expecting something more like Duchamp's "Fountain".

I don’t think the new devs understand dilution. It was the biggest complaint regarding the game forever now. We shifted our complaints towards busted characters but dilution REMAINS number one issue with the game.
Another 3 star does not make happy anyone, older players deep into 5 star gameplay won’t care, players into the beginning and mid will not be happy neither as it will cost them even more, time, iso and roster spot’s gold to move to that 4 star category.
Why are we seeing a 3 star with every 5 star release? What is the point of this?

The point was stated a long time ago. If there aren't any new characters released in the 1-3 star category then new players won't see any newly released characters for a long time (as long as a year or more depending on how fast they progress to 4 and 5 star land). It's hard to get new players interested in a game where they are stuck with old content.

Besides any character is a potential 5* now. So if a newer player never got the 5* when it was out they can get an ascended version that is mostly the same with a bit of perseverance.
2 -
I mean let's not kid ourselves, the point is to sell 3 roster slots instead of 2 each month.
All fancy explanations are just made up.3 -

I’m sorry, I wasn’t aware I was wearing my naive hat today.
You know what was really terrible to me when I just joined the game? That it was too many useless characters in 3* category knowing I want to move into 4*. I hated that I had no money to spend on roster spots so I was throwing away covers. New players are NEW to the game, they are new to the 3* that are already in the game, they don’t care about yet another useless character that only keeps them from progressing into that 4*. And devs are doing just that, they slow down progression of their new players.
Let’s face it, it’s all about selling gold for roster spot. And who cares if they game gets worse for that.

They have to make money somehow. What's an alternative revenue stream that can earn them as much as dilution/selling roster slots does? And how could they implement that revenue stream in year 10 of a highly successful game, without completely blowing it up?
Players should hate dilution/the release schedule/roster slots, because it's how we're being monetized, and nobody wants to spend money. We're always going to be opposed to the devs from that perspective. But there's not really an alternative here that's both realistic and better for both sides.

There are ways to monetize that actually make sense AND don’t ruin the game.
How about creating a paid tiered battle pass that give you excellent rewards that help newer players dealing with bloated game. Make it 10/20/30/40 (for tier 2/3/4/5) bucks and while progressing you get ISO, roster spots, covers, shards and - whoever completes the battle pass - you get a fully covered character of the tier you’re in (where tier 2 gives you a 2* and a tier 5 - 5*).
Boom, you make money while actually helping players and being welcoming for newer players.
Adding a tonne of 3* is pointless and only causes frustration among newer players.

Do you know for sure that the game currently isn't welcoming to newer players? Have you talked to a lot of newer players that have no association to the existing community?
The devs spend an awful lot of time focusing on the new player experience, and making sure things work for them, so I think you may be projecting your views onto a group of players that you don't know very much about. The evidence that it's working for them is that nothing has really changed -- if it wasn't working, they'd have to change it.

I'd be interested in what percentage of players spend $40 or more per month on the game. And then it would need to have more in the Battle pass than you'd get spending the same amount on other smaller offers. For example, the Shang costume bundle is $10ish? So 1500HP, 1 x 5* cover plus Iso and tokens? Others are more, but not in the $40 territory. VIP scalable so that rewards scaled with SHIELD Rank for the same price would get my vote.
As for regular release of 3s - Is be happy to see a better split between 1,2 and 3 stars over the year. Hunter looks OK, but is a rewards factory now until essential.
