Second mission of Kamigawa Training can't be won?

I am on the second training mission for Kamigawa Neon Dynasty and there seems to be no way to win. You can't change the order of cards in hand in Training, and the caterpillar enemies get buffed to the point that it is impossible to win as you also have less health than Tamiyo. Also, the imperial pilot card doesn't seem to do anything as nothing goes to graveyard and your minion never gets attacked. Please fix this or someone tell me here how you managed to beat this.

It is definitely poorly designed. It can be beat, but it's not automatic like a training match should be.

You need to get the Renewed Surroundings support out. This is achieved by casting 2 cards in a turn.  They don't make that easy for the reasons you stated.  Almost every match I started I had 2 of the supports in hand. I couldn't get enough mana to cast both.  Finally, I had 1 support and 1 creature in hand.  I was able 2 cast both on turn 1. From there it was easy.

Twice now I've played until I could win but then the game hangs, leaving me unable to get the game to register that I've won and unable to progress to the next level. This is very frustrating and not a good way to introduce this mechanic.

This fight is just poorly designed as mentioned above. Just give it another try. Sooner or later you'll win.
For the freeze-problem make sure you have no "win X pve-fights" active.

Thanks for that: well spotted and it did let me progress past the match after I got rid of that objective.
