Rise of Adventure - Karn can't fulfill objectives

EVENT
  • Which Event is being analyzed?

Rise of Adventure
  • Which Node?

Bottom Node
  • Event supports

None
  • Planeswalker and Cards used to reproduce the bug.

Karn
PLANESWALKER
  • Which Planeswalker?

Karn, Scion of Urza
  • Which Level?

60
  • Is it related to a mechanic, trigger, or ability text?

No
  • All cards in the deck and possible interactions that might have happened.

Not related to cards in deck.

---------

The error is:
Bottom Node, Objective "Identity - Match 24 or more gems of your Planeswalker colors with swaps during a single fight."
Karn's bonus is in all five colors.  None of his matches work to fulfill this.

If Karn is not allowed to be used in this event because by design he can't actually fulfill the objective, put a warning or something.  Ban him from being a choice maybe.  Don't force players to lose the event because it's poorly explained.

Karn is not a five-colored Planeswalker, he's a colorless planeswalker (as are TED and Ugin).

The difference is very apparent with cards - five-color cards have all five colors at the bottom edge (e.g. Chromanticore), and colorless cards have a grey bottom edge (e.g., basically any land, most artifacts). Heck, Karn's first ability behaves differently if you fetch a colorless card than it does if you fetch a five-color card.

Planeswalkers colors are shown and treated the exact same way. "Your Planeswalker colors" has never, ever been the same as "the colors your PW has a mana bonus in" (see Saheeli, who is clearly blue/red and not a five-color PW).

I'm not trying to attack you here, but I'm genuinely curious: aside from outright banning colorless PWs from that node, what else do you think they could have/should have done to make this clearer, in-game?

I don’t think this post is entirely without merit. I would expect Karn to get credit for Loyalty matches, at least. Is that not the case?

These objectives have changed recently, before the change (allowing cascades to count, etc) you could meet the objective with Karn and loyalty gems.   I did it myself on the top node of A Timeless Voyage (Identity objective).    I heard a rumor it no longer works but it was not very fun and I wont be attempting it again
