Unannounced change : deck slots

After the last update, the deck slots of Jaya and terefi got changed from 2k runes to 20k runes.
As usual : if it had been announced, players wouldn't have liked it, myself included.  20k is just not affordable for most of us, 8k feels fait but that's not the point.
Changing it silently is just the same repeated pattern of miscommunication we know and dislike since.. a while. Why would you do that? You changed something, we liked it, hoped for it to be the new normal - it was obviously just another mistake, but no one told us. I'm just totally disappointed;this is unnecessary.

The change from 20,000 to 2,000, and only on the DOM Plainswalkers, was never announced in the first place.  I fear this may be an instance of them correcting a typo they accidentally made in the previous release.
2,000 may have been too cheap, but I feel 20,000 is still fairly expensive, especially as it also requires level 60.  Perhaps 5-10,000 at level 60, or 20,000 below would be a good compromise.

And speaking of that level 60 requirement, neither Karn nor the older Nicol Bolas had that restriction, I suspect due to the huge rune cost to level them all the way, but the new Nicol Bolas PW does have the level 60 restriction on the 3rd deck slot.

It very likely was a mistake. However, if they realized the mistake and chose to fix it, that would fall under the purview of Bug Fixes in the patch notes.

Its just another case of the Patch Notes being 90% of what is actually being done and the other 10% is left for us to find out on our own. Surprise!

I thought I saw somewhere that the 2K cost was always supposed to be a temporary thing... was that supposed to be a permanent thing?

The 2k are maybe a temporary option for walkers ... We can see that the new mono walkers to come also have 2k slots. However new bolas dont so ... Hard to foresee any pattern.

Why is 2K too cheap for a deck slot. It's a deck slot. Deck management is already hard enough with 1.5 slots.

Now maybe I totally imagined this out of wishful thinking or something, but I could've sword Jaya and Teferi had 500 rune costs to unlock a 2nd deck slot once the planeswalker hit level 60.  But I finally got her to 60 and now it's 20,000.

Anyone else out there notice this or am I just a crazy wombat?

They were 2000 when they were released but it was 'rectified' with 2.8 to the original 20k.

yeah maybe it wasn't 500, I just remember it being dirt cheap in comparison.

Does that mean if you were able to level up your planeswalker to 60 before the update you got a 90% cost discount?  That's great for them but doesn't seem very fair for the rest of us, where it took a bit longer :/

well I'm definitely not buying an extra deck slot now that it's up to 20,000 again. Sadness.

I feel like the 2,000 deck slots are a current set exclusive. As in, once the newest set comes out, they go back to 20,000.

"If you purchase this Planeswalker and level it to 60, you'll have the opportunity to purchase a deck slot for the low cost of 2,000 runes! Hurry now, this offer ends when the next set releases!"

Which further emphasizes the need for more runes!

In some situations I'm okay with paying your way to get ahead, but pushing an inconvenience onto players so they'll buy their way out of it is not good business in my opinion.  An extra deck slot should not be a luxury item, especially with multiple game formats that we're required to alter our decks to fully participate in.

In my mind, the change to the dual training grounds should have come with a free deck slot for every walker for every player. That change forces people to rotate decks more frequently, and it was an un-asked-for change to begin with (having a standard and a legacy option for training grounds at the same time was asked for. What we now have is worse than what we did have). It was the least they could have done.

Personally, I think the prices for deck slots would be tolerable if they gave you more for each. Specifically, I think the rune purchase should get you three slots, and the crystal one should get you five (or three for 100 crystals). Anyone who already bought them should have the new slots unlocked automatically.

that would be cool if it was 3 deck slots that you could choose which planeswalker you'd like to add it to.

Like each deck slot unlock required a Deck Slot Unlock token, and you could get 3 of them for 20,000 and then use those 3 to unlock a new deck slot for 3 different planeswalkers.  I'd be game for that

I don't care about cost, but it's FAR past the time when we should have been able to purchase as many deck slots as we tinykitty want to.  It's a quality-of-life timesaver.

Hi Everyone. Apologies for the confusion. I just posted the 2.8.1 Hot Fix notes, and this change is included. The deck slots were not intended to be 2,000 Mana Runes, but rather the 20,000 Mana Runes that all Planeswalkers have set for them.

You should probably take a look at the 5 new mono color walkers that just came with M19  :*
